Thread: leveling FS combat XP quickly

now that i am done leveling ill post my method for grinding out FS fast for those of you that prefer rifles to commando and grenades.

get buffed (duh), get your T21 for grinding (again duh), ticket to endor smuggler outpost. from the outpost make a waypoint to the DWB if you dont have one there are tons of guildes around to find the exact location. now travel to the DWB and kill everything including the cowardly gurrecks and squalls since you will be making multiple trips this increases your odds of getting that merek hive to spawn. mereks are the best source of XP on endor. they spawn in massive quantities and a single lair can generate over 150k xp in a short ammount of time.

other notable lairs are arachne and the various gurreck lairs. my best time for gaining 900k rifle xp was a flat 25 minutes worst time 75 minutes. my average time is 40-45 minutes.

once you have the XP you need hoof it back to the village. after turning in your XP you should still have around 2 hours left on the buffs. from the village to the science outpost kill everything that you come across. if you reach 400k weapons on arriving at the SO just return to the village killing everything as you go once again. keep repeating this pattern until you gain less than 400k on arrival at the SO or your buffs run out.

go get buffed and head back to endor to cap XP and rinse repeat.

using this method i managed to gain well over 550k FS xp on saturday and finished off the last of the XP i need for jedi initiate by 11am on sunday.

this method is more than capable of filling an entire tree of FS skill in two days of heaving grinding. the only method that beats this is going commando 4000 and enough weaponsmith for C22 grenades. but if your like me and love rifles this is about as fast a method as i could come up with.

Thanks, Barb. Sounds like good advice.

That 25 minutes is pretty impressive! 900K is 180 5K critters. Thats 7.2 critters a minute or one 5K critter every 8 seconds! DAMM!

Question: Nothing in the game gives much more than 5K XP, right? (Most I ever remember gettingwas from a Karamuth on Dath the other night - 5099 xp).

heh yeah i was amazed i only came across such a situation once but it was a hella lot of fun. but that isnt the norm so dont take it as such its just the fastest i ever capped while doing FS xp runs.

i had previously cleared a small area that had 3 CG spawns andfew squall spawns and on the next trip they had all become merek spawns and all were within about 150mof each other and i went from lair to lair tapping each one and killing the initial spawns got all 900k off those 6-7 lairs.

just a testament to killing everything in your path when you know your coming back through later.

oh forgot to answer your other question. ancient bull rancors can give up to about 5300xp i think the max possible is 6000 but due to whatever calculates XP you seldom get over 5100. personally i think it has something to do with how much damage your doing totally and it doesnt count the spillover from main damage where 10% of your hit leaks over to the other 2 pools.

if i had of thought of it at the time i should have tested it when i was a MBH using fastblast since it damages all pools evenly. would be interesting to know.

but yeah the most you can get on dath other than ancient bulls is about 5099.

same is true for all other planets it tops out at about 5k give or take 50-99 points.

unless a lair generates 5k monsters and the lairs health bar only depletes in very small increments it is faster and more efficient to just killing the lair than trying to milk a lair that will only generate a extra monster or two and just move on to the next.

when looking for a good spawn area look for routes that large numbers of peopel take every day. there is almost always now ancient bulls on dath between and aroudn the village and blurrg raptors between the DWB and smuggler outpost on endor to the amount of traffic in each of those areas.

rancor valley and the NS stronghold have dried up because there just isnt the traffic there used to be in those areas. at least that is true on bria right now.

Yeah... I have been doing most of my FS hunting on Dath because I like being close to the Village when I max. But it seems to be either feast or famine. I had a situation the other evening similar to the one you hadon Yavin. I ended up in the middle of three natural nests and got about 650 XP in maybe 20 minutes. But last night was really strange... because of the Phase 3 quests, there was a LOT of traffic to the Village but I couldn't find a decent nest of anything anywhere between the SOP and the Village. Weird.

yeah it comes and goes. thats why if i didnt have at least 450k weapons or so by the time i got to the SO i just went on back to endor and finished off the cap. and usually by the time it was time to return tot he SO after dropping off XP the spawns would be better.

nothing like having 25+ mereks after ya all at once using a strafe2 on them all and watching the damage fly and the XP roll in!!

Hi!

Nice post. Just a friendly correction: if you are talking about grinding combat XP, the grenades used are C12s:

Death Watch Bunker

its a very very nasty dungeon on endor. there is a lot of player traffic of late going to the DWB so there is a lot of good spawns in there area between the DWB and the smuggler outpost. at least on bria. dunno about your shard. mileage may vary.

...C22 grenades...

Hi!

Nice post. Just a friendly correction: if you are talking about grinding combat XP, the grenades used are C12s:

Using C-12 grenades for FS XP

yes if your not a commando you dont have a cert for C22. C12 at less than commando 4000 is just not worhtwhile in my opinion. takes longer as a non-commando to get 300k combat than it does to make two runs of weapon XP at 120kFS for two runs. capping combat via grenades for a noncommando takes far more than 2 hours. its also cost prohibitive since the exchange rate of damage to creds used is just insane. you just cant toss a grenade fast enough at non-commando speed to make this a viable tactic.

at commando 1000 i beleive you get the cert for C22. C22 takes the same components as C12 and are a bit more powerful. with commando 4000 you have the speed and accuracy to use them efficiently and if you want you can even go a bit higher up the weaponsmith grenade tree for other grenades.

one kill with a grenade on a max critter yields on average 1667FSxp. takes almost 5 minutes to generate that XP. one kill with on a 5k critter with a weapon generates 333FS xp. this is a basic 5 to one ration. takes about 5 seconds or so to kill that one critter. i can a hell of a lot more critters in that 5 minutes of taking out 6 creatures with grenades by going from nest to nest and killing things with a weapon that i am a master in.

as the most critters that can attack you at one time is 6. the rest will wander around till the ones currently fighting are dead and a spott opens. greandes are only efficient if your a commando then they can be used to maximum effect like any other mastery and only then do grenades become a better option than any other weapon mastery.

just do a basic time vs effort study and you will see easily that C12 grenades are a waste of time but look oh so good when that 5k starts rolling in. but its just a pipe dream and your actually wasting valuable grind time by using grenades at less than commando 4000...
