Thread: Help with rifle build

I've got it in my head i want to be a rifleman. But, other than that i have no clue what to do with my other points. I originally thought maybe rifleman/creature handler, or rifleman/ranger. But now i wonder if those trees would actually mix well.


I didn't beta test, so i'm pretty noob here. I'd be much obliged if some beta testers could give me suggestions as to what else to take.


Far as what i find fun, since i know you guys will say "do what you find fun". I am a big PvPer, so i'm looking for something to go with rifleman that would make me kill faster/survive longer in pvp encounters. Ranger might be nice for the ability to run away better than anyone else factor. But as i have no PvP experience in this game, i don't know how important that is.


Seasoned pvp riflemen.. help!!

Ranger would work well with Rifleman with all the extra camoflauge and terrain negotiation bonuses. Creature Handler would work well if you want to have a pet tank for you -- I saw two guys doing that very well the other day. Some people take up 2H Swordsman because it can attack the mind pool when then enemy reaches melee range. Hope this helps a little.

This is the build i am currently working on. It takes ALOT of fightingexp in different areas, but i am hoping all the defense i will gain will give me an edge over most other skill templates i've saw which are totallylacking defense.


Scout- Explore 3 + survival 1 = 25 points


Marksman- Master Rifleman + Range support 4= 106 points


Brawler- 15 points


Novice TKA + Master precision striking + Expert Balance = 66 points


Novice Fencer + Master footwork + Master fencing = 68 points


Total 250 points used (provided i didn't miss anything).



Ranged Defense total: 70


Mellee Defense total: 70


Plus decent defense versus knockdowns and posture changes. Still a little unclear on how well highRanged and Mellee defense works since i am still currently low in my skill trees. Hopefully it doesn't suck.

Dangit- typed out those totals wrong. Wheres mah edit button ;p



Scout tree- 25 points


Marksman tree- 106 points


Brawler + novice tka + novice fencer = 55 points


Master precision+ expert balance= 26 points


master footwork + master fencing = 28 points



total 240, unsure what i'll do with the extra 10 points.

With the 10 extra ya might as well take exploration 4, that's when mask scent becomes worth a **edit**. And if ya harvest animals could always take hunting 1 and 2 just for higher yield of the harvest.. then sell the stuff in the bazaar.

I found myself in a similar position, unable to decide how to spend all my skill points.


Irecomend going to http://swg.allakhazam and do some research on all the abilities available in the skill trees of the professions that interest you. Then just paly around witht their character builder untilyou come up with a spec you like that spends allyour points.

I've made a few adjustments to my build, figured i'd post em for ya to see. I'm currently a novice CH and i really like having my pet around even though he is just half grown right now (i have a mountian vesp, armor: 1 and 40% kinetic resist he tanks like a fiend). So after looking through all my options i've came up with the following.



Master Rfileman + ranged support 4 = 106 points


Novice Pistoleer and the line with knockdown defense (forgot the name, stances i think)to 4 =34 points


Novice TKA + masterprecision striking + Expert balance = 61 points


and Novice CH: 49 points


total: 250



Lowers me to 55ish mellee and ranged defense which is still respectable for a rifleman. Raises defense versus knockdowns to 100 which will be a big plus in pvpimho (lotta bounty hunters with their "i win" knockdown/dizzybutton will be crying), and lets me keep my little acid spittingtank.
