I'm thinking of taking 2H sword to supplement my long range skizillz, but what am I supposed to use for 2-Hanaded xp when you don't have any certification other than a dagger when you get novice brawler?

You can use a heavy axe as a novice brawler, that will get you 2H sword xp.
