Rifles do not just do mind damage.....I don't understand why people say this "Why use pistols up close when they do health damage and rifles do mind damage?" My rifle does health damage all the time. i know the special attacks only do mind damage but that doesn't mean that rifles can't do health damage.

Sure, rifles CAN do damage to health or action as well as mind. But only if you just press "attack" and walk away. All our specials attack the mind pool. I can either do a 600pt mind hit or I can do a 100pt health hit. Gee, which shall I chooose.

There are cases where it might be prudent to accept the weaker results, such as when you're in a group that can barely take down monsters and no one else is attacking the mind pool. Then you might have to sacrifice your effectiveness and plink away at the health like a Novice Marksman. With a group of -riflemen- though, Mind attacks are the way to go.

i understand that the special attacks only do mind damage but that doesn't mean rifles only do mind damage. i've seen people say that rifles do mind damage 100% of the time, by either normal attack or by special attack. i don't remember his name but in-game i told him that if you hit attack with a rifle you can do health and action damage along with mind. he laughed at me and said a rifle will never do health or action damage. those are the kind of morons i'm talking about.

Most riflemen don't consider auto-attacking to be REALLY attacking, so they don't call it that.

LOL gotta say I love the term " semantic pedantries " and I might have to steal it for future postings .

Because people are idiots. You CAN use a rifle with a pistol, just be sure to use Overcharged shot instead of Head Shot.

I never, ever use overcharged shot. Why? I want to keep the same rifle for more than a week....
