I keep reading about it but never used. Been a master rifleman for about a month.

Ijust got Conceal Shot a few days ago.

Since then I've been experimenting with it bysoloing bols and pikets on Dantoonie. It allows you to shoot with very low probablility of being detected. The only time I've been aggroed is if Iinflict bleeding on the target. And thats only happened 3 or 4 times in the the last few days.

Try to getset your position at ideal range for the weapon you're using. Then keep a careful eyeon the shot cue.A couple times I've drained my mind enough so that I go into normal shot mode, thats bad.

Any more experienced Rifleman please step in with your comments and/or tips.

Conceal shot is a very boring but effective way to drop almost anything. You go prone at range, go into /cover and then start spamming /concealshot until the target is dead. This is slow at lower level Riflemen, but fires every second with almost any speed gun at master. Not a super powerfull hit and is random pool with a chance the creature will detect you. But, it alows you to do things solo that would be impossible for most others. Almost useless in pvp, have not experimented much with it yet there. perhaps it will alow you to get off shots without them auto firing at you? Hmm, have to try it on freind.

As I have posted on this shot before, no reason to nerf. Limited or useless in pvp, slow and still risky in pve. Out done by smugglers with fein death and CH with graul. But, it is a nice tool for the rifleman non the less and a great skill when used properly.

You don't need to go under cover.

You must spam conceal shot and ONLY conceal shot. Don't use anything else. Not even 1 normal attack. If your mind bar runs out, then peace until you have it back.

If you kill the mob using only conceal shot then it will never aggro you as long as you don't miss twice.

I believe they put a very mild stealth nerf onConceal Shot recently. I use it a lot and in the past it would never break, NEVER. However, in the last week it has broken a few times. I'm not completely sure why. Someone said if it misses twice it will break. That's possible (also, in the past, it never used to miss). I've also heard that if your accuracy mod drops into the negative (i.e. when your target is at max range and then starts moving) it will break. That's also possible. However, it's only broken a few times for me and, like I said, I use it a lot.

I love Conceal Shot. Like someone said, it's a little boring. But, when there are no groups around on Dath (or I just feel like soloing) I'll take on Baz Nitch missions myself. With Conceal Shot they take about 20 minutes and I get about 28k rifle xp, 2.8k combat xp, and 11k credits. If it gets too boring I'll pull out my GSPs and use them to tank while I spam Flurry Shot 1. I just have a hard time finding a lot of pet stims sometimes.

Just to add something here, I have a macro I use for concealshot sniping (YES This -IS- Sniping! Don't nerf it!!)

/concealshot;
/pause *;
/peace;
/ui action toolbarSlot**

Adjust the * for the speed that you fire. With a laser firing at 6.0, 0/1/0/2 and a Rifle Speed +1 skill tape, 9 or 10 seemed to be the sweet spot for me. Replace the ** with the slot where you put the macro (slots start at 00 don't forget).

I also have a /dump macro in the slot next to it so I can just dump the macro when my mind needs a recharge or if the target moves.

I tried this originally without the pause, and what happened was that as soon as I hit the macro it would peace before the shot ever fired.

If you don't have sneak, then you cannot use this while you are taking cover or you will get an error that says "You cannot peace while immobilized". However this message does not come up when you get sneak or just don't take cover.

You definately want to use this at your gun's optimum range, and use a gun with as long a range as possible. I use a damage sliced gun for this work, as it's slow going anyway so I want to hit as hard as possible with each shot.

If the target moves, hit /dump as soon as a shot is fired and peace happens. You have to be careful, because if you dump after the shot is fired, but before peace is executed, you will go into normal combat mode and just open up on the target. This will also happen if you run out of mind so keep an eye on that.

When the target moves, dump the macro, re-position for optimum range and start again. Some things (like Krayts) will often park themselves after a few minutes will not move again unless something disturbs them, so once you get to that you can just keep beating on them till they go down.

Or until some jerk with an AT-ST shows up and agros the dragons and spoils your hunt. Truthfully, this happens more than half the time to me...your mileage may vary.

When that happens, switch to the speed gun, down some Muon Gold, let the dragon agro on the AT-ST then smack the dragon with mindshot and then just beat it down ASAP with headshot3 while staying at max range. At least half the time, you will be able to get the loot and laugh in the face of the AT-ST driver.

Personally, I think that once I tag a dragon, no one else who isn't grouped with me should be -able- to shoot at it unless I leave the area or die or something. This would stop all these kill-stealing griefers and make them mind their manners.

Or kill-stealers should just get a TEF that allows any player to attack them while not allowing the kill-stealer to fight back. Then they'd learn their lesson

Thank you very very much for this inforamtion. I don't have sneak yet, and was woundering what possible value it could have. Now I can't wait to get it. Thanks

Reasons for ConcealShot to get broken (creature or NPC will aggro you):

1. you missed twice (in a row ? i dunno)

2. the target noticed you the normal way because it came near to 40m or nearer

3. Someone else (other Player, other NPC or even other critter) startet to attack/fight your target (seems strange but happend really often to me)

4. you had any other kind of attack on the target (3x if you prone, normaly 1 time while standing) or a bleeding-tick (every single bleeding-tick is like a single new attack to the aggro-behaviour)

So watch out following rules:

1. better use /aim; command before concealshot just to have better chances not to miss

2. /peace; and go out to 60m if the target comes nearer (i think 40m with critters and 50m with NPCs will be dangerous)

3. If there is anything that attacks your target or if your target has a bleeding stop attacking immidiatly and wait till this targets thread/fight ends.

I solo dragons, kimos, and albatros pekos using conceal shot and i've never been attacked just make sure you do not let a normal attack happen or your screwed. Slow fighting? YES but you get all the loots.

I've started to use conceal shot on nearly all my missions unless they detect me and aggro. Then we pull out the old-fashioned pet tank/bleed tactic while we back off, heal and come back for more.

I have found that different NPCs/critters will detect you at different ranges. When we (my friend as alos a rifleman and we do a lot of sniping) are sniping Stormtroopers (STs), they will detect me at 40m. They tend to patrol. pacing back and forth and sometimes they head toward your position. We've noticed that Master Maulers and soem Korbol (sp?) Assassin NPCs will detect us as far away as 60m.

We still manage to snipe the Master Maulers and Assassins easily enough by taking cover and using conceal shot at max range (64-65m). We also tend to go prone outside 65m and crawl up to max range. Not sure how well crawling works yet.. still playing with it. I'm honestly thinking of oing up the 2nd tier and getting Sneak before going up the first tier. I hate to have to uncover when the target walks out of range.

The major bennie we've found? Use of stims has dropped a TON.. Sometimes I go through 6-7 missions perfectly and never get targetted. You have to be careful and watch the directions they are standing and patroling.

Oh.. speaking of directions they stand. The more difficult targets.. I try to approach them from the rear or at least from the side. They have poor detection when you do this.
