Thread: Better compliment to Master Rifleman? Doctor or Combat Medic?

3-4 shots is usually enough to remove another player to the other side.
doctor allows you to cure your own diseases massive heals and stat increases.
combat medic is more about tossing poisons around and after the next patch your going to have to be in combat range of other classes and no more cheesy tossing of disease 70 meters away.
Your dmg dealing ability as master rifleman is devastating enough - you kill far faster with rifle skills than with Combat Medic skills -
that said - go Doctor so you can migrate all stats to mind and buff out your Health/Action - this minimizes your rifleman frailty and limited sustainability. It also allows you to wear Armor to further maximize your defenses.
(if you're choosing between just those two, anyway).

my master doc/combat doc tells me combat doc would help me more

It's easy - doctor will benefit YOU more (self-buffing, but you can alsoresusitate other players, heal states like poison and blindness, etc) -
Combat medic won't do a thing for yourdefenses as a Rifleman- but you can Area Stim friends and poison enemies (which is negligible except when you're against a lot of enemies - but rifle skills are still far more potent).
Doctor will help you as a Rifleman more than Combat Medic will.
I hear most people on here talk about healing THEMSELVES. Fine.. if you are always gonna solo, then Doc might be the thing for you...but don't forget that both of these professions have to have Master Medic to even Novice. That is a powerful healing in its own right.
But if, like me, you are a group fighter/hunter, then Combat Medic is the way to go. As a rifleman, you are fighting from the perimeter already, not in the mix with the TKA's and Pistoleers. With Combat Medic, you can deal out damage from a distance, but also heal your teammates from distance as well. If you go Doctor, there are some obvious advantages, namely making money, buffing, and reviving dead players. But you will have to do it all within 5 meters of your target, making your Rifleman skills useless at the same time.

I really like this template accept that it leaves 1 point, and is 1 point from being complete with a 0 4 4 0 doctor so i can use enhance d's. This template allows me to migrate all my points to my mind. I have very good terain negotiation, and i can throw poisons that tick for 530 out to 58 meters. I can also revive other players.
I used to buff all 6 of my action/health stats until i realized that i dont need them, only the primaries. I have some composite that is 410 encumberance to health, so i adjusted 20 to both the health secondaries, and im good to go.
Doc vs. combat medic is a really hard choice in my mind. Combat medic is better geared tward a solo player. All by myself, with mind poison, two mind bleeds and mind shot 2 i was able to outdamage a whole group with a commando, allowing me to get the loot on a krayt. It wasn't untill another group with 5 atsts showd up that i wasn't the damage champion. Course, im not a master rifleman yet...
Doc works better for groups, because you can buff everybody, be defense vs poison with your remove poison, and rez people who die.
Combat medic only complements riflemen if there is a group of people you are attacking that you can throw an area poison on. Otherwise, 3-5 good headshots with an ion rifle should do the trick. Throwing Poison is only useful if you think that the fight is going to be drawn out one.
If you are looking to master one or the other, i recomend doctor, as the pool points you will be able to migrate to your mind will more than make up for any effectiveness you loose from CM. I recomend Dabeling in both.

to be honest i wish i went the doctor route, the buffs ussually save my ass in pvp
