Thread: Okay, klawlegna, here's where you earn that juicy Rifleman Correspondent paycheck...
A couple of weeks after we hashed all that out, the October 8th patch very briefly changed the Armor/AP system to work in a manner that -- aside from the values, which got reversed -- worked like the dev said it did, and not like it's been working since the game started.
This caused me tremendous concern, because if the Armor/AP system is changed to reflect the way the Dev was stating it worked, it would be an extreme reverse nerf for high AP weapons -- which is the bread and butter of us Rifle types. Fortunately, within a few days, they changed the system back to the way it had been previously, and all was well.
According to the Weaponsmith Correspondent, however, the Devs are once again claiming that the Armor/AP system works in a way entirely differently from how it actually works, which once again has me worried that they're going to try and revamp the Armor/AP system.
You have access to the Correspondent Forum, so you have access to more info from the Devs than I do. It may be that the Weaponsmith Correspondent has misinterpreted an old post or something.
But if he hasn't, and if the Devs are once again floating this new, revised Armor/AP system, then it's time for you to step up to the plate and show them the error of their ways. The proposed Armor/AP system will be a major, major reverse nerf for us. It will SIGNIFICANTLY increase the effectiveness of AP0 and AP1 weapons, while providing little or no increase to the effectiveness of AP2 and AP3 weapons. Thus nerfing us by comparison.
For more details, review this thread in the Weaponsmith forum, and take note of the mathematical analysis.
It would be nice if they would just tell us how they think it should work so at least we could argue our case. Having a guide that explains the way AP works but it being wrong strikes me asa bitsilly.
Stealth changing the AP code as a quick nerf to high AP weapons isjust plain lame.
I agree this should be high on the list of riflemen problems, we have the highest AP weapon in the game, a nerf to AP is a sure fire nerf to RM.
Can you try to get us some answers please klawlegna.
I'm not totally against having high AP reduce resists, but if in the next big patch they arelowering AP and resists on mobsas reported by some people then high AP becomes mostly pointless if it simply reduces resists.
However, we need clarification on how this system is SUPPOSED to work (and then we can see if it's still bugged). And I totally agree, if they changed it to how the WS correspondant describes it, this is a MAJOR nerf for us. Please look into this and let us know.
I have seen no official statement regarding this on the Correspondent fourms but, I'm digging around to see if anything was posted prior to my arrive.
What paycheck? ![]()
