Thread: Rifle speed and how it doesnt work.
5.0 speed E11 Rifle (+50 Rifle speed)
No specials, time between shots: 3 seconds
Headshot 3, time between shots: 5 seconds
Conceal Shot, time between shots: 5 Seconds
Is it actually designed to be this way? If so it would be possible for a master rifleman to actually do more overall damage using no specials than if he had used only head shot 3. Personally I think that makes no sense what so ever. I can see where limiting it so that we don't get a head shot 3 every 2 seconds is a good idea, but that should still be augmented by our skill with the weapon by making it so that certain specials take longer to use, butdon't just set it so that the person with the better gun shoots faster than the person with the higher skill.
Assuming the following 2 things
1) +50 rifle speed reduces delay between shots by 50%
2) The special moves table on swgcenter is correct
Then this makes perfect sense, no specials = 2.5 sec (rounded up to 3) and headshot3 and conceal shot both have double the delay of a regular shot so it in fact should be 5.0 (2.5x2) which SHOULD be a significant increase to the speed you would see using those same moves without the +speed
The increase doesnt work like that currently, I'm not sure how its supposed to.. the +10 speed = 10% speed increase thing still sounds reasonable though, but it doesnt work like that either right now. (because +90 speed mod is what, 1000% speed increase?)
Reason why it has to be a percentage is that if it was a set number like that +10 speed = -0.1 "real" speed, that'd screw over rifles quite bad (and carbines, just not as bad). Like if we're playing with imaginary numbers, -50% speed on a weapon would theoretically be a 50% dps increase on any weapon, but in the other case, comparing a pistol to a rifle.. Lets say the pistol has 60 damage 3.0 speed, and the rifle has 180 damage and 9.0 speed, both are the same dps. Now we apply a -1.5 speed decrease on both, so we have a 60/1.5 pistol and a 180/7.5 rifle. Pistol dps doubles (20 -> 40) and rifle dps goes up 33% (20 -> 24)
