Thread: Why do I die when I shoot my rifle?

Hi all,
I've just gotten back to playing again after 6 months or better dealing with RL stuff, but something is wrong. I remember hunting (I'm working towards ranger/rifleman), taking out things easy to medium with no trouble. But now since I've been back, it seems that my rifle kills me. I havn't changed any equipment, but now when I shoot a special shot it hits all of my ham bars, where before it would only hit blue. So roughtly, I get 6 mind shots and I have to pop a camp and rest for 20 mins. Rifleman is no fun anymore.

they may have tweaked the ham cost of your specials. are you using HS2? HS2 seems to have a higher damage per mind cost then HS3, if that makes any sence, also are you drinking brandy or eating arisa or canape? make sure you haven't foroten. if all else fails remove your helmet and visit your local smuggler for some drugs.

I only have HS2, so yes, I'm using HS2. And I'm drinking brandy.

visit your local smuggler then, whats the encumberance on your armor, if you can't get a buff, I find that pixie works well to.

you shouldnt be getting that big mind costs, use 2 brandys with 45 mins use & 50 fill, that way you can continously use them, i use 2 brandys and 2 ahrisa's = No mind costs, if you get music buffs, youy only need the 1 ahrisa!

Thanks for allt he replies! I've actually went from composite to ubese armour with what seems to be no difference. The funny thing though, is that its not just my mind cost. I shoot my rifle specials and all 3 bars go down with the red being the fastest. I will try some of the other suggestions though. Thanks!

yea, that's a sighn of to much health encumberance, have you tried getting some encumberance sliced armor?

Get doctor buffs in addition to the mindbuffs and you can use your rifle like a tommy gun.

Make sure you have no wounds in the health sub bars (specially strength), that could be what's causing your red bar to go down so fast. The alternative is to get buffed, yeh... this was the cheap way, assuming that was the problem.
Also, like others have mentioned, get a stat migration. For hunting (only) I'd recommend something like this:
Health-------- 650
Strength ----- 400
Constitution - 400
Action ------- 650
Quickness ---- 400
Stamina ------ 400
Mind --------- 800
Focus ------- 1100
Willpower ---- 600
You can do 'ok' unbuffed against low'ish creatures, meaning you won't get killed by your own shot and they won't kill you in one hit. This + buffs + 1 (or 2) brandys + Ubese/composite = perfect for hunting (ubese better, even though it doesnt last very long)

Some other things you should explore is getting a Stat Migration to have your Focus and Willpower at maximum, Get a mind buff from a Master Entertainer with 125% enhance.
I drink 2 Brandy's 427 49 fill. Get fully buffed You should not need the Canapes till the Mind Buff goes as u can't double a Willpower and Focus buff just the Dance portion. Then use the Canapes. All my Rifles are always pup'd and I don't have any probs and my armor is 90% resists with High Encumberance.
