Hi All --
SWG websites I have seen don't appear to give complete information on skills. They give a vague description of the skill, followed by numerical mods, certifications, etc.
SWG websites I have seen don't appear to give complete information on skills. They give a vague description of the skill, followed by numerical mods, certifications, etc.
For example, the Rifleman skill "Strafe Shot" is described as "driving your opponent out of cover".
However, I have been told ingame by an expert Rifleman that in "Strafe Shot" rifle hit points, instead of being applied vs Mind as rifle hit points normally are, are instead applied randomly to1 of the3 categories -- i.e. there is a 33% chance each that Health, Action, or Mind will be selected by the game-system to have the rifle hit points of a given "Strafe Shot" applied against it.
Can someone give a website that gives complete and detailed Information on all Skills from all SWG professions?
Also, I was told by this player that if a combat skill:
a)Mentions the target's head, hit points are applied vs Mind
b)Mentions the target's body, hit points are applied vs Health
c)Mentions the target's legs, hit points are applied vs Action
d) Mentions none of the above, hit points are applied randomly vs one of the three, 33% vs Health, 33% vs Action, 33% vs Mind
Is this the case?
Finally, are there any combat skills where something other than Health, Action, or Mind has hit points applied against it? (Example: vs Will, vs Strrength, etc).
Thank You,
Amphiaraus

The Faqs (compiled by player) answer most of your questions.
Currently, I do not believe that you can target secondaries directly, You can through diseases though.

you're looking at two main types of attack:
'regular' shots
targetted shots
a 'regular' shot is also called a 'full HAM' shot. it hits the target, and damage is randomly applied to Health, Action, or Mind. in practice, full HAM shots tend to spread 50/30/20% damage (rough numbers... others have tested this more exhaustively) across the three pools. however... a shot for 1000 damage (example) to ONE pool tends to spill some of the damage into the other two pools (1000 hit on the head works out to about 800ish on the mind pool, and 100 each on action and health).
'auto-attack', which is the default fire or swing with a weapon, obeys the 'full HAM' spread. many 'special attacks', which require the use (oddly enough) of an active 'combat special', also spread across the three pools. examples? overcharge shots. strafe shots. flurry shots. warning shot.
targetted shots do their MAIN damage to one pool, but spread some of their damage into the other pools (as above... a shot targetted at the head spills a little damage into health and action). a HEAD shot targets the mind pool. a MIND shot targets the mind pool, does wound damage to focus or willpower, and applies a 'bleed'. LEG and ACTION shot? action pool and secondaries. BODY and HEALTH? health and secondaries.
a 'bleed' is a Damage Over Time (DOT) attack. while it applies an initial damage value to a pool, it wounds a random secondary to that pool. it further 'ticks' for more damage to the initially damaged pool. a bleed will last until first-aid, meditation, or time removes it. the wounds to the secondary last until they are healed.
right now, targetted head shots are primarily rifle abilities (though there are exceptions, such as the BH skill 'eyeshot'). action? carbine. health? pistol.

best to read the SWG official forums for this info.
For example, the Rifleman skill "Strafe Shot" is described as "driving your opponent out of cover".

Strafe 2 is a random pool shot. That is it hits a ham bar randomly with a higher weighting to Health > Action > Mind.
Can someone give a website that gives complete and detailed Information on all Skills from all SWG professions?
No real good ones but you might want to try SWG Stratics, but your best and most current info will always be the SWG Forums for each profession.
Also, I was told by this player that if a combat skill:
a)Mentions the target's head, hit points are applied vs Mind
correct
b)Mentions the target's body, hit points are applied vs Health
correct
c)Mentions the target's legs, hit points are applied vs Actioncorrect
d) Mentions none of the above, hit points are applied randomly vs one of the three, 33% vs Health, 33% vs Action, 33% vs Mind
more like 50 30 20
Is this the case?
Finally, are there any combat skills where something other than Health, Action, or Mind has hit points applied against it? (Example: vs Will, vs Strrength, etc).
No such targets - so no. You can get a bleed applied to your substats at times by NPC's or other players -(it isarandom event)but that is the only way not to attack a main pool

The other ranged people get targeted pools fairly close to what we get, Carbines - Action, Pistols - Health.
Understanding your single pool attacks is very important. For instance you get two mind pool bleeds. Know when to have them both going. Swordsmen and TKs can also target the mind pool. This synergy alows you to group with these people and take down Big Lizards much faster than standing there spaming Straif Shot 2 at it.

The FAQ has all the Rifle specials listed with a description and other info about them.
Also the 33% per pool isn't correct. It appears that it's actually 3:2:1. So you have a 50% chance of hitting Health, 33% Action, and 17% Mind with random attacks.
