you don't until you apply it to the weapon. There is an option to remove a pup though, so you can experiment, just make sure you select "remove powerup" and not "delete"...

For Some reason Moziila Firefox Browser wont let me post = / so i had to switch to IE.. wierd it posted the tittle and not the message it was
my T21 670-1090 'ish PUPs to 1280'ish max and i still dont see a differnce DPS wise it doesnt even update it

sounds like you used a damage pup, these tend to keep the DPS the same because the increased damage usually results in increased speed. Try a speed pup, in the CU speed matters more than max damage.
