I used a tuskan in beta, and found that having the ideal range at 60 meters was the best thing I could ask for in a weapon, extreme accuracy at long range.

My question is this, what if any of the better rifles has ideal range of 50-64 meters, and does having the ideal range at 60 meters, make it a better weapon than one with say, 20percent higher damage or more?

I am a wookie rifleman, currently using the 2hweapon skill to balance out the close range disadvantage. I will sell it back later to make room for creature handler skill, as the pet should be doing the dirty work for me. (wich leads to a side question, are there creatures that do any mind attacks?) I'm also going to be crafting bowcasters. I've heard thier ideal range is in the middle area, between 30-50. (wich is partly the reason I ask the range question, as I am wondering if I't would be wise to keep a tuskan, or other longer ideal range weapon handy, for getting in those first shots?)

Im looking on heading up to bowcasters as well, seems a really nice weapon.

I have a laser rifle that does 11-265 damage. Ideal range is 60m... Needless to say it ROCKS! If you are on Lowca there is a girl named Buffy who has a shop on the outskirts of Dearic Spaceport, Talus. She sells them. I am one-shotting creatures that I wouldn't dare even solo before. Combined with my adult humbaba (great newb CH tank) I can solo like a madman.

I think the real question is why the CDEF Rifle has the same ideal range asa Carbine. We have to practically be on top of the enemy before we can hit them!
