Thread: Solo rifleman a good solitary hunt
I'm on Naboo for now, and lately I've been having a lot of fun hunting Falumpasets solo. They're big, tough and slow; when they die it pays out about 800 XP. The only drawback is that they're not easy to come by; Itrack down 2 a day, tops. Still, great targets for an XP rich solo hunt.
Three things are really neccesary for a successful solo hunt; a good rifle, skill, and a sound plan.
I got a DLT20 and laser rifle I switch between in the heat of combat ( they're both crafted by one of the best weaponsmiths on our server so the stats are pretty high. Cheap weapons = death.
I aim, then headshot2 with the laser rifle. When the beast charges I switch weapons, hop up, andburst run, all the while unloadingwith the DLT20 ( faster rate of fire ).
For the skill part, you have to have at least Headshot2; it does massive damage and if your using the rifle, the mindpool is going to be your specialty anyway. ( While we're on the subject, you might also want to invest sometime in 2H sword skills. It compliments the rifle well as they also deal out mind pool damage, and you'll finally have aquick way to deal with unexpected "close encounters" )
Now for the plan; I discovered a while ago that some of the smaller creatures on Naboo can get quite territorial with each other. Look for a group of flesh-eating Chumbas somewhere within, say, 60-100m of your position relative to the target. Found it? Good. Now remember that spot; when the Falumpaset charges, your going to jump up and run ( Don't burst run yet.You want him to follow ) straight through the middle of the Chumbas. Don't worry, they won't attack you, but the minute the Falumpaset tries to barrel it's way through they'll swarm on it and attack. Now while they're occuping his attention, run out to the 55-60m sweetspot, dropto onekneeand start to unload Headshots again.
By the time he kills off the Chumbas, you'll have bleed his mindpool dry. If not, no problem; watch his mind pool. If he's almost finished off the Chumbas and still has fight left in him, run out of his range and wait for him to turn around and go back to grazing. Then all you need to do is rest up, heal a little, and run back over to his original position and crawl up to within rifle range again. He should be ready to go down now, after a round or two of headshots.
Happy hunting.
