I got ranted on for the editing of the original post which got messed up during posting. So first of all apologies to the few who had the patience to read the original post. Here is the text as it SHOULD have been edited (thank you Sony!).

I know it is cliche but I realy want to play a bounty hunter. hey! Sue me! Nevertheless one of my first love when starting the game was with the inherent satisfaction of sniping a target starting a 64m and to see it drop before it got even near scratching you.

At first glance those two aspects wouldn't work. Most BH are so self absorbed that they want to rely solely on their lightning cannons while most riflemen go the 2-handed weapon way to cover their close range defense problem. Well I don't like axes ok! I wanted to play a rifleman to enjoy a more calculated cold and refined type of killer. If I played a wooky I would probably choose that combo Bowcaster/axe, but i don't!

One good thing I nevertheless learned from fellow bounty hunters in the game is that you do not have to be a master to be successfull at something. With this this in mind, i devised a template for what I think are two of the most complementary professions in SWG, the rifleman and the Bounty Hunter.

First the template itself:

-Master Marksman: 77 points

-Master Scout: 77 points

-Bounty Hunter: 34 points (both pistol and investigation lines maxed out)

-Medic: 30 points (advanced level in first aid, pharmacology and organic chemistry)

-Rifleman: 32 points (sniping accuracy line maxed out and expert in concealment tactics)

TOTAL: 250 points

Explanation:

1. Marksman well we need at least rifle and ranged weapon support. Working carbine and pistol might seem tedious. With carbine it is true (they suck!) with pistol it will be easy since we'll use them as a close range weapon. Headshots, warning shots and Suppression fire are all very sweet perks and start the sniper on his way, specializing him in the mind pool attrition of his victims.

2. Scout is for me the most important side profession for all snipers. You'll negotiate terrain like a rabbit on caffeine pills, will design traps who can devastate a creature mind pool (we like that!!!), can earn a great living with craftmen selling organics and will be able to go on long stretches away from civilization making camps as you go.

3. Medic is essential to some level. Advanced first aid will let you stop a bleeding and I cannot count how many times I defeated an opponent to end up back to the cloning chamber because I bled to death. pharmacology and organic chemistry will let you craft basic level of stimpatchs and medpacks to cover most of your physical injuries. You will love being able to do that either in group or especially in solo.

4. Bounty Hunter, well lets face it we all want at least one somewhere on our account. With all 4 levels of investigation completed the level of bounty will be high enough to keep you entertained, and maxing the pistol tree will give you exiting possibilities! First you'll enjoy accuracy and speed bonuses on the pistol that even the pistoleer cannot equal. Second you 'll get access to two special shots, bleeding shot and eye shot. The first you can use on strong opponents, start the bleeding run like hell and wait for them to drop! the second is the most important, eye shot will let you target the mind pool of your opponent with a pistol. I repeat here so everybody gets it. You snipe at longe range and now you can finish up at close range with a pistol using eye shot and...

ONLY THE MIND POOL WAS TARGETED!!!!!!!

5. Rifleman well thats what we are mainly hehehe the sniping column is in my eyes reason alone to want to be a rifleman. Keep your eyes set on sniping shot and deliver death blow at a distance (MUHAHAHAHA!). The rest of the profession I would ignore exept for 3 levels in concealment (thank your scout bonus here!) to access conceal shot and stealth. Now you can move under cover, open fire without being detected, kill at a distance in PvP, and target your unsuspecting opponent mind pool using your pistol!!!! (most wont see that one coming!).

Weapon wise, I would carry 3 at all time. A scatter pistol for close range (you are a BH enjoy the perk!!!!), an E-11 rifle for accurate long range rapid fire AND OF COURSE the T21 rifle wich alone would be THE REASON to want to be at least novice rifleman. Armors and droids are a question of preferences, and I wont give all my tricks away! I welcome all of you to reply for question or suggestion and hope you'll find that post usefull.

Added Comments.

Ok the armor droid part, I'll give a couple of hints.

Droids:

- Probot Mk3 (Mk5 would be better but cannot find one yet) set on Guard

- Surgeon Droid level 2 in medical module (used in camps)

Armor:

- Ubese full suit 20% kinetic protection (thats right! Come at point blank!) and personnal shield Mk2 (again I would prefer Mk3)

- I am waiting on the composite armors and will defenetly use a 3 layered suit with kinetic, energy and blast layers.

Also having a novice entertainer level for as long as your pool of points will allow it reduces your town time even more (for those of you who didn't figure it out, I HATE TOWNS!!!).

Are the droids and faction pets that you have access to comparable to the pets that a creature handler has available? If not, have you thought about going the CH route instead of say, the medical route?

I like this post too but allow me to point out that mind shot does the same thing as bleed shot. I mind shot my target and it makes their mind pool slowly drain and my head shot more effective. I've never actually used bleed shot but when i get hit with it, it does does what my mind shot does to them.

There is a BH on Flurry now that has a pet Rancor. Kinda makes the BH/CH combo seem a little cooler.

This sounds interesting I do have a few questions though.

1. Are sneak / cover shot actually useful in PvP or is it only a PvE skill?
2. Same thing with investigation, can the droids track other players or just mobs?

Thanks to all of you for the great critics.

so I'll try to answer questions

1. Droids, yes they work just like pets mine is an Mk3 Probot with 40% resistance across the board a 150 damage blaster firing at 1.5 speed. A nasty little bugger and a great meatshield while I snipe from afar.

2. Cover and sneack COULD work in PvP, your char becomes semi-invisible and hard to spot unfortunatly you still show on everybodies radar (an issue to submit to the devs here). Nevertheless Sniper shot (AKA killer shot) CAN and SHOULD be used and abused in PvP. Send them to the cloning chamber guys! They should learn to fear us and out T21s MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! (oups lost it here for a second!)

3. the CH IS THE ENEMY!!!!!!!! am sorry but I shoot CH on sight. Poochy rancor is not going to do you much good when you are laying in a pool of your own blood. Eerybody is going CH now! Great training spots like the Tusken canp are now swamped with them! I fear that unfortunatly SWG is going to experience the same abuse with "pets" as UO did back in the day. A lot of happy moron with their Rancor circus feeling like they own the world getting their asses kicked mercilessly as soon as they step on a battlefield.

4. for the GOOD CHs out there. I admit there is a few and I actually call a few good friends. I mean the ones who don't hug the spawns, who have the courtesy to limit themselves to one pet in crowded spawns and TAME their pets, don't go around buying rancors at te bazzard, yes the BH and CH are a interesting combo.

The marks in bounty hunting are difficult and you most always solo them so being able to use pets can be usefull. If you really enjoy soloing I would lower pharmacology and organic Chem by one level each and consider tacking a novice level of CH. Why??? Well at novice level you can buy pets from a master CH and deploy up to 2. So yes with my little novice CH I can swarm the mark with 2 pets, one probot and still stay at 60m packing head-shots. Nevertheless if you go the pet way please remember not to be obnoxious as it is very easy to ruin the fun of the people around you with them. Solo with them in group keep them in storage.

5. Mind shot. Yup its somewhat usefull but it is not a "bleeding shot" last time I checked. It is a shot that prevent the mind pool from regenerating (read focus and willpower are getting spanked). If you get a bleeding effect it is more likely because rifles are some of the most devastating weapons out there with very high wounding scores (my E-11 is close to 12%, welcome to Hell Sucka!).

6.I will have to revise my judgment on carbines. yes it might be worth it to drop some of the medic skills I advised to bring carbine to level 3 in the bounty hunter tree. It is not sniper relevant but if all else fails the knockdown shot might save your bacon!

Thanks to all of you for the feedback! Keep it coming and remember this is just a template I suggested. Each of us can do its own variations.

If you blow off the Medical tree, you can get up to Creature Taming 3 and Creature Empathy 3 (or whatever 2 trees fancy you) in the Creature Handler profession. I am thinking of going that route personally.

Mindshot is a bleeding shot to let you know. Little secret, On "Animal based" mobs, shoot mindshot2, followed by warning, then click off attack. The mob will run away, and start to bleed, Now with a laser rifle 316dmg, my mindshot is doing around 500-900 a bleed..*note: Make sure you are within 64m when the mob dies or no exp. Also on humanoid mobs where warning does not work...Shoot mindshot2, followed by strafe1...then run out of range, the mob will chase and/or go prone/kneel...when they change postures they most likely will flop, at this time you can watch it bleed or shoot it with mindshot3, they stay flopped for around 5-20 secs, dependingon resist of the mob. Very usefull way to get say 3K+ exp on Imperail NPCS/stormtroopers.Note: Ive noticed on melee based Humanoid mobs that the dizzy shot doesnt work , they never change postures...I.E. GO prone/kneel, thus the dizzy effect wont hit them. But all in all, yes mindshot and mindshot2 are both bleeding shots, just takes 20-45 sec, dunno exactly for the bleeding to occur.
