Thread: The ability Conceal Shot
I was thinking of getting this over the other rifleman skills, aside from rifle speed but that's on combat xp anyway so I can get that alongside with other rifle skills.
I remember this one guy who just used it to destroy a lair full of red social tigers on Corellia. They never saw knew their lair was gone. It was quite funny.
This is probably obvious, but....
When destroying a lair, if there are no monsters outside the lair (you've killed them or they haven't spawned, whatever).... when you shoot the lair, they WILL spawn. Either singly or, as one poster noted, en masse.
The trick is this: just Ping the lair.
That's what I call it anyway. I fire ONE shot at the lair, then Peace (which means you cannot be prone). Wait. Wait a little more. If any new spawns are going to pop, they should pop in a moment. When they do, they will -not- see you attacking their lair (because you hit Peace, remember?) so they won't attack. Then you can go about killing off the new spawns.
This has the added benefit of getting the MOST kill-xp and scouting-xp (from harvesting). It does take a little longer to kill the nest, though.
Eventually, you can ping the nest and peace and NOTHING will come out. Then you can (usually) just open fire and destroy it.
Now, that's my usual tactic. I don't yet have Conceal Shot. With Conceal Shot ---- as I understand it ---- you could shoot the lair from Cover / prone and the animals wouldn't see you. IF this works, then great. When I test it on a vrelt lair or something, though, I'm going to be looking to see whether the animals all rush me when I shoot the lair from Conceal.
Like, if you shoot one monster from under Cover at max range... sometimes his buddies will charge right for you. If conceal shot ONLY works on the person you've shot then it won't be that effective at all. If NO ONE can tell where the shot came from, then it will be a great way to destroy lairs (or thin the heard without getting charged by the pack).
Be interesting to experiment with this one. ![]()
Thanks, ScoerFusou. I guess every time I've tried to peace I was ALSO under cover. ![]()
Then it was a panicked scramble to get back to kneeling quickly. Of course, MOST of the time, seems like, I fail to Take Cover like eight times in a row, at -123 Action hit each time I try ![]()
