Just wondering if Head Shot 3 is worth getting right now. Or should I use the skill points elsewhere?

Thanks,

HS3 is a waste of time but accuracy on that branch of the tree is always good.

Most people would agree with that, I think. That said, I've noticed an appreciable difference in the amount of damage I do with HS3 as opposed to HS2, which is contrary to what I've read elsewhere. *shrug* Maybe it's just me. Top hit with HS3 so far has been around 4300, HS2 was about 3000 on the same critters (chuba, hehehe). Might have been some other factors coming into play - as I say, most would argue that the difference is minimal.

I just got HS3 in the last few days, and so far I like it. While I dont see a HUGE improvement ( like going from HS1 to HS2 ) I do see larger hits and it seems like I get more hits. It also seems like my other hits got a bit larger, I dont know if that has something to do w/ the accuracy line or what.

So far Im 2-0-0-0 almost enough to train in 2-1-0-1 or 2-0-1-1. So whats better concealing or startling?

Theres not much in the concealment line. I'd go for 2/0/1/1. (I am 3/2/2/3 and will be 3/2/3/3 soon).

One thing to consider: When moving up the riflemen tree I have HEARD that as you get higher in the tree, the XP goes down on the MOBs. So people who shoot up the sniper line (4/0/0/0) may really be hurting themselves because when they go back to fill in the lower boxes, the XP will be significantly less and it will take them a lot longer.

I say 'HEARD' because I have not seen any numbers on this. Anyone know how much XP drops per level in rifleman tree? Anyway, trusting soul that I am, I have been leveling each tree before moving on up. The grind is hard enough as it is.

If you are on Tatooine, by chance, you might go find a Greater Desert Womp Rat and try to take it down strictly with rifle shots (i.e., without using any pistol warning shots) and see how much XP you get.

Because I hunted a bunch of them this weekend, I know that at rifle level 3/2/2/3 you get 1843 XP with a pure rifle kill on each one of those. Seems like I used to get 2200 or more when I was lower in the tree, but I don't remember. The other thing to ask is "Does XP go down with each BOX you fill in? Or just as you go up a level in the tree?". This would be good to know for those following behind you....

BTW, a good sequence to use on the GDWRat to avoid switching to pistol warning shots:
Prone at 60m, (Aim, MS2), (Aim,MS1), repeat if miss either of them, (Aim, Warning shot)...
followed til death by HS2s andWarning shots).

WayneInAustin I've strictly trained up to sniping 4 and expert rifle special skills (the +speed line). I have seen no decrease in going up that line exp wise. I go hunt graul, piket and huurton on dantooine (I'm also a MCH) all my kills have netted the same amount of rifle exp and combat exp.

Wow, HS3 is by far the biggest dissapointment of the Sniping Line. I have never seen it do more than HS2 since I got it, yet it depletes my mind nearly twice as fast.

I hear the borked Suprise Shot with a Carbine is better than HS3.

I've seen this theory mentioned in more than one post. I wish I had kept numbers somewhere. I HOPE you're right. Unfortunatelyit seems to me that I get less xp than I used to, but that is just an unproven gut feel without numbers to prove or disprove.

Maybe it's just that 1800 XP used to SEEM like so much more when I was a novice!!

More bunk in this thread than I care to comment on.

After getting HS3 I saw my max hits going up by as much as 40%. Get it. Just rearrange your stats if you see your mind getting drained down faster than you like.

I use HS3 quite a bit I find the damage consistantly 25% higher than HS2 I have my stats arranged so I hav fast mind regen and I heal easily with master medic so that it is no problem with the reduced Health and Acrion Pools. I can't headshot all day but I can do it enough to beat most mobs. It's theirf*cking little friends that are a problem.
