Thread: Proposal for HAM cost reduction
As we are all we all aware, HAM costs are one of our biggest issues. Especially with our SPECIALTY weapon the T21. This is greatly accentuated as we climb further and further towards Master Rifleman and our firing speeds increase.
Now as we increase in skill, we learn to shoot with greater accuracy and greater speed. How come we never learn to shoot with less concentration? Practice a skill enough and it becomes second nature. So I propose the following solution.
Reduced HAM costs as we increase in skill!
50% reduction at Master level should be efficient enough I believe. Perhaps even the following could be the format for the reduction.
- Tier 1: 5% reduction
- Tier 2: 7% additional reduction
- Tier 3: 10% additional reduction
- Tier 4: 13% additional reduction
- Master: 15% additional reduction
Total of 50% HAM cost reduction at Master!
Now I believe it wouldn't be very fair for only Rifleman to receive this benefit so I would believe that this could be added for Pistoleer and Carbineer as well, but ONLY for these 3 Elite professions. We are the masters at our particular weapon so it would only be fair, at least IMHO.
I would like to post this to the development forum but would like my fellow riflemen's input on this proposal first. Perhaps Aldeon could even share this on the correspondent forum if this receives enough support?
Constructive discussion only, please. Thank you.
What about melee classes? I think that more than projectile weapons, swords and staves become second nature when you have enough experience with them.
Why not just a 20% reduction in weapons HAM cost (for rifles with excessive HAM costs)?
A change like that would be far simpler than adding a new feature, rational as it may be.
You can achieve 33.16% HAM reduction to one stat, 16.33% to another, today by using a well crafted ranged weapon power up.

Yes, of course this could apply to melee weapons as well. I keep forgetting about them! ![]()

Reducing the HAM costs for the individual weapon would be far easier, I agree. However the solution I proposed is more well thought out and creative IMO, and would be a welcomed addition by many. Hence I believe this would be more accepted by development. Even though it would take a little extra work to implement.
