Thread: Sniper shot, could it be changed to something more useful?
Does anyone think it'd be a good idea to give sniper shot a 4x damage multiplier as well as DB? It would hit a random pool so it's just like flushing shot 2, flurry shot 2, and startle shot 2. It would have a 4x multiplier just like those other attacks. It's at level 4 just like startle 2. The only real difference is it'll hit one enemy rather than a whole bunch. Which would benefit me greatly as i tend to die from hitting enemies i didn't intend on hitting. And i never use headshot because i'm typically groupped with pistolteers and want to hit the same pool as they do.
I read somewhere that it did a lot of damage in beta, but I don't know the specifics.
I do agree that if Head Shot 3shouldn't be outfinal and defining single target shot. Sniper Shot needs to be "brought in line" with other shots of it's tier.
To balance heavy damage, there should be a high staticrefire time for sniper shot, so it shouldn't be used as a primary attack, but one to finish an opponent off with.
It'll all be sorted out in time. I'm just so tired of worrying aboutwhat's going to happen.
But riflemen have way more bigger problems.
Why not use Surprise shot?
It has a damage multiplier of x3 (should be higher, but it's single target and that's what you're asking for) and it no longer has to be used from cover.
Just because you don't use sniper shot, doesn't mean some of us don't.
I don't thinkpeople would be too happy if I came along and said "I don't useconceal shotmuch anymore, can I have it changeda AEdamaging shot please?"
It's a bit annoying having someone ask to change a shot that's working fairly well (except it misses too often) andthat somepeople findvery useful, just because they don't use it.

She didn't ask to change it, just toenhance it. I don't have a problem with that. Seems if you can blow a guys head apart, the damage would be more than 50! But I also agree we have bigger problems.
Wayne, it's not that I'm against enhancing it, it's just that there areso many other skills that could be changed, and that are currently rather poor.Sniper shot along with strafe2 are mytwo favorite rifleman skills, so I don't really want to seeSniperShot given a higher HAM cost because it's doing good damage all of a sudden.
In fact I thought giving surprise shot a higher damage multiplier was a great idea, seeing as it is single target I don't see the problem wth giving it a 5x damage multiplier the same as strafe2. This would allow those people that wanted to play a sniper to use a single target attack without the AE.That is the reason why I also liked the idea of giving a second surprise shot at master, one with a x6 multiplier, this should keep the snipers happy.
I didn't go for sniper shot yet, went to concelment tree,
and it was the best move ever, concelment shot "My bad on spelling" is a great way to get like 3 or 4 free shot's befor a rush, and i have done 2k+ with it easy,
i am thinking of going 3-3-3-4 and then going for master xp on each so that i can get more xp from mission
as a matter of fact since i been playing my rifleman alot more then my Doc I love the Rifleman alot more now that i know what i am doing, I know i am talking soon but i hope the Dev's just don't mess around with my T21 I mean take my Kid b4 you do thatm and hell make it better lol
Yeah, PvP for me is moslty Strafe Shot 2, Strafe Shot 2, SniperShot. Change targets, repeat. I love having a target dead before they hit the ground and people try and steal your faction points. I was never able to get a Deathblow before Sniper Shot. Now if I wanted to I could take them on everyone I had targeted weither I incapped them or not.

I'm in total agreement with Seflyn on this issue.
Sniper Shot is a fully functional, extremely useful skill, invaluable in P v P and, most importantly, something which actually conforms to our role -- Sniper -- which, quite honestly, seems quite a rarity. We are the only class in P v P with a ranged deathblow, and this constitutes an important and powerful ability -- asking for a damage addition would seem excessive, given that this is already among the very best of Rifleman P v P skills; the likely consequence would be a "compromise" where damage is granted and the deathblow is removed. I don't want to risk that.
Furthermore, there are far more important matters to attend to at the moment. It would seem unwise to focus on one of our few functional skills when there are so many lasting deficiencies and disadvantages plaguing our class. Riflemen should consolidate their effortsin petitioning for a T21 upgrade and forremoval of the Heavy Weapons melee modifier-- which, though supposedly a bug, persists after a month -- and focusing on minor and ultimately inconsequential issues such as the improvement of an already useful skill will both get us nowhere and waste energy that could be far better used in militating for much needed and long-overdue, genuine improvements to our class.
