Corbantis the server I play on was taking its normal dump so I decide to troll around the other professional boards and came across this post in the Pistoleer board:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pistoleer&message.id=18785

As you can see a pistol has the capability to one shot, I want to stress here that I really dont care if can that doesnt bother me one bit. What does bother me is we have a very big push from those in the Pistoleer profession in making us shoot 6 times slower then them.

What kinda made me laugh is they have the same exact problem we have here. The people pushing for this change are the NOVICE pistoleers that dont understand the power of the Master Pistoleer, kinda sounds like the Rifleman problem.

This possible change to our attack speed is our number ONE issue not some 2.5 damage penality. Our correspondent needs to be jumping on desks if he has to to make sure this does not go through.

it bothers me that they can one-hit. wasnt the entire reason for nerfing PvP damage to prevent us from one-hitting people?

other than that i agree totaly. if we take a hit to the speed of our weapons we will be totaly useless.

Well it really depends on how they change it.

For all we know, they're multiplying the damage by 3 to make up for the 3 second change. They DID say they were increasing the damage. I get hit all the time by particle beams and rocket launchers for 2500+ damage, so maybe doing 1000 damage in PvP with a single Headshot2 isn't out of the question anymore.

So why complain about a change that we know nothing about when we know for the FACT that the 2.5x melee damage penalty is an unjustified and unfair nerf. Thereis nothing we can do that justifies this huge penalty over other classes.

The combat system change is something we can argue about better once we see it and test is on the Test Server. Aldeon should be able to make a master rifleman there in one click and go spend 10 minutes finding out how hard he hits, and THEN we can start up the petition, if necessary.

You know, all this may really do is compress your first three Strafe2's into your first shot. I'm not sure I'd argue against something like that.

When the Dev's brought the issue of increasing damage they said they would "look" at it after they cap'd us at 3 sec. If you truely believe they will triple our damage when we can already shoot a SS2 and do 1200+, more power to you. It would gurantee a one shot kill every single time we shot, they will not do it.

The 2.5x is not even close to being the number one issue facing Rifleman, and just because they havnt institued the cap, doesnt mean our corespondent cant show them why they should never do so.

Why would you guarentee that? We can ALREADY one shot kill unbuffed opponets using strafe2, and BH's and Commandos can one-shot without even needing to be a master of their profession.

The 2.5x melee damage is a root of many problems: we are a long range class in a short range game, mobs warp and we have no way to hold enemies at long range. These are huge, serious issues and asking them to look at the 2.5x melee damage is a good start.

Why spend the time coding the 75% reduction if all you are going to do is continue to raise damage so that everyone one shots again? We can already kill in one shot, I agree 100% but raise the damage by 3 fold and even when we hit minimum with SS2 using a T21 would constitue a one shot kill.

You continue to talk about how comando's and BH's can one shot us. Come next week when the patch goes live what will your excuse be then?

As for needing it removed because of warping, why does the 2.5x need to be removed? Why not have them fix the god **edit** warping?

That is the problem withyour arguement areboth reasons you give on why the 2.5x damage should be removed are based off of bugs that need to be fixed, and at least one is set to be fixed next patch.

as a novice I think Muajiwhe is totally correct, the 3 second thing would hurt us ALOT more than "fixing" the 2.5 dmg in melle, the 2.5x thing becomes a moot point when something way more crucial is on the chopping block. The master rifleman i know on my server(my heroes)are realy worried, like may go to WoW when it coms out or make a new character kinda severe worry.

just a novice that agrees with an elder after reading some posts =)

I guess the huge novice master opinion disparity is indicative of rifleman advancement being non-linear.----muj
