haven't seen any documentation of this.
It seems every time I do a special attack it forces me to kneeling. Is this intended? Cause it's mighty annoying that i'm trying to keep my distance like a good little rifleman only to be stopped dead in my tracks. If it is intended, does that also mean its with all ranged professions?

will do.

do mobs have posture down attacks?
even if so, i've gone against far too many different creatures/npcs for that to be a reason.
(that i remember: spiders on dath, reptillian flyers, SMC, the sith pirates, bols, etc etc.)
and no i'm not running a kneel macro hehe.

Problem solved aka nooblet moment.
everytime i login and/or shuttle it resets the auto attack to the kneel icon. I didn't even notice it since it's not in the current toolbar displayed. Was driving me up a wall trying to figure that out. Props to BeckNebula for clearing that up.

excellent ^_^ good to see it was an autoattack issue and not a specials bug outside of that

Glad you cleared that up I thought I was goin nuts

I had a weird thing like that with Prone. It took me an hour to figure out what the problem was.
