I have a character that has not been getting much love from me lately (I have been working on my other two), but I have been thinking giving him some love to take a break from my doc and my tka. He is about 75% to novice rifleman and when I started him I also got him to brawler 2h swordlvl 2 (for the head shot). In terms of the big picture, is rifleman\2hswordsman an effective combo (current bugs aside...meaning in theory) for those who have done it?

Right now I'm a 0-0-4-0 level Brawler, and a 1-1-0-1 level Rifleman, and I thnk it's a nice combo. If you are doing headshots and attacking the mind, and your target gets to you, you don't automatically have to run and kite. You have the option to stand your group and still attack the same pool that you've been hitting. Very nice if it's already bleeding.

If you're hitting with default or random attacks (conceal), and the target warps to you, you can still switch and just hit with regular 2-Handed attacks.

I used to have Novice TKA, but switched to 2-Hand for the option to hit the Mind if I need/want. It's nice to have the choice.

Good luck!

i love this combo--also started with unarmed combat but switched to 2handed weapons. As long as the creature doesn't have tons of mind hp left when it gets to you, you can take it down (rather than feeling like you are in a Monty Python movie--'run away, run away!'). i keep stand on the toolbar, and as soon as something starts towards me i hit it, switch to sword, and start spamming scalp blow.

Hello,

As I was reading the various topics in Rifleman, this one just called right out to me. I am a Rifleman/2 hand Swordsman combo Wookie. I have only one character, no pets, and i am working on my Rebel Faction.
My theory when deciding what to do with my character was that I can hit things from a distance, and when they charged me I will pull out my Axe/sword. I have went up just the rifle tree in marksman, and I am now at novice rifleman. I also went up just the two hand brawler tree, and now I am a novice swordsman.
I truly do love this combo. Granted I dont think I can become a Bounty Hunter or a Commando, but when i'm with my buddy or a group, I do enjoy myself. The only bummer with my character is what I hear on these boards. It appears that choosing a Wookie may be a mistake because i cant wear armor. It was a mistake being a Rifleman because of our weak weapons and Melee damage, and it was a mistake choosing Melee because of "out of range" problems.
But if I can figure out how to heal myself out in the field, and continue gaining XP so I can swing my shiny new Power Hammer, I'll still be addicted.

I don't wear armor anyway, not liking the hit to focus. I might wear a low encumberance helm and brestplate in PvP if I did that, but I actually get by pretty good against NPCs of the same calabur w/o them. Untill they fix armour encumberances I'm really not enclined to buy any anyway.
