I have a rifleman on Chilastra (4/4/4/3), used to enjoy the class, but made a character on another server just to take a break.

I was on the Tempest server earlier, with my novice weaponsmith/carbine user....xp was going slowly on Naboo, and I needed a change of scenery. I proceeded to hop a shuttle over to my old favorite rifleman hunting grounds (Mos Taike to the Krayt canyon).

When I was grinding through the low rifleman tree, banthas were one of my targets of choice. I could either conceal shot them to death, or, upon being discovered, at least manage to run at the same pace. This is no longer true.....

My character on tempest has exploration three, so I figured I would be able to at least run around some banthas, taking an occasional hit but still getting the job done. First off, banthas now assist...I checked Dune banthas, feral banthas, regular banthas, bull banthas, and matriarch banthas, all of which now assist. I can deal with this part, seeing as how they are relatively slow moving targets.

I was proven wrong in a hurry. With this latest patch, the ONLY way I can move at the same (slightly greater) speed of a bantha is to burst run, otherwise, at my normal run rate, even not holding a weapon I get caught in next to no time. I tested this multiple times on flat terrain, hills, etc. It did not matter, I was caught every time.

After seeing how many mobs they have made social, and now speed increases to previously slow mobs I really feel for those riflemen trying to grind through the early stages. I am fairly certain this was done because SOE wants more group interaction, but it is just not even funny how little xp a low level rifleman will get when grouped. Be prepared for an even SLOWER grind now, and you would be well advised to go ahead and either take that evil pistol, big pet, or become a martial artist.

It's also a bit depressing for people whose personal circumstances don't support grouping. I have a small child (a few weeks) that requires a fair bit of attention, so it would be fairly remiss of me to expect a group to support me ducking away from the Keyboard every hour or so for whatever reason.

That, plus my hours of play make soloing the only real option for me and I suspect I'm not alone. I know that there are a lot of young parents out there who play MMOGs (because face it, you don't get out much in that first year).

It's rather sad that SOE has decided that the soloing segment of their player baseisn't worth considering when they make these changes.

Sorry for the rant, but SOE aren't the only people who are guilt of this and it's a little hobbyhorse of mine.

Ya, what the hell is wrong with solo XP grinding?

I mean I understand not giving the ability to Solo PVP but PVE adjustments like that have nothing to do with PVP. I think in Sony they want us to join their commune so they brainwash us with this grouping is good crap.

CM's are like nukes. You have them just incase you need them, but as soon as you start using yours the other guys start using theirs and everything goes to hell-PyschoticChipmunk -The First line of the Riflenomican.

what really anoys me is that there's no way to handle social animals. if you're a ranger with conceal or a scout with mask scent the pack assisting animals don't even have to break maskscent/conceal, they just run up and kill you no questions asked, no camoflauge considered. makes all those points invested in scout/ranger kind of useless. what did I buy that for again? oh yeah, I wanted to be a sniper and shoot things but have them not see me. heh, what a crazy idea for a sniper to be able to hide. how silly of me.

I am going to share a secret with you all. Especially the new Riflemen.

I hunt on Rori. Yeah I know some people think it is a hole but I find myself travelling back there all the time.

If you are a rebel go to the Rebel Outpost on the South of Rori. From there in the junir levels get Squall missions and as you get higher move to Leviasqualls. The good thing about these critters is that they run slower than you so you can easily kite them. What I do is wack some bleeds. fire one or 2 more shots and then kite them. If you are lucky to get a Laire that spawns 4-5 then that is great. You can kite all of them at once.

I am now 3, 1, 4, 2 very close to 4, 1, 4, 3. I have pretty much gotten all my exp from these guys at my current rate I am getting 1309 exp a kill. To get this I havea pet and group with it. Note my pet does not attack. I just keep it there for the group exp bonus. This will go down now but it is still good for new people. Once you can get Leviasquall missions from the terminal you can make 2400-2600 cr per mission. This means good money + good exp.

Hopethis helps people.

I've been forced into grouping as well.On top of Riflemen I'm a CH and Ranger. I used to hunt mamiens on Yavin-4. Can't do em safely anymore. And I even hunt with my Faction pets on top of my CH pet and Droid.

Ill shoot one mamien and a second will jump on a secondary pet. Two more make a bee line directly for me. I'm down before I can get them both off. They were still good for 1500 rifle XP. I get in a group and I'm pullign in some 2-300 XP on the bigger creatures. I sit in group though lostenign to the pistoleers and Carbiners aotu how they dont understand what my problem is. They're pulling in a good 3-4 thousand XP on the saem target.
