Thread: Conceal Shot, worth it?!

I finally decided against going for BH, instead, I'm going for CH and Riffleman. I'm slowly acquiring the xp needed to get somewhere in the Riffleman tree.

Now here's the catch, I do solo a lot against mobbs. I was thinking about conceal shot, the question is, is it worth it?! Does it actually work and keep critters from going aggro on you? I have pets to tank in case that happens, but as far a soloing, what's the first skill a novice riffleman should acquire?

conceal shot sucks.

Anything high enough to use it will BAF with all its friends, and any mob low enough that dosent BAF you can solo without it.

conceal shot is good for soloing giant kimogilas on lok, and krayt dragons on tat, and pretty much any big thing that you can find ALONE.

they REALLY need to change the way pack assist works, because right now it's re-freakin-diculous. you can be camoflauged (ranger), under cover, and firing conceal shot but as soon as you hit a creature ALL of his buddies know EXACTLY where you are, even though the dumbass you're shooting hasn't got a clue.

the reason I took up rifleman in the first place was specificaly so I could get conceal shot. come to find out it's worthless in most situations. if you're a ranger and have high enough tracking you should be able to see what creatures pack assist by examining them, if it doesn't pack assist you can own it.

if you want to give conceal shot a spin, head on out to lok, go down by the imperial outpost and wander around, you'll run into some kimogilas soon enough (giant dune kimos are great, be sure you have your sg82 with you, they're 80% energy resist, but vulnerable to cold) they're usualy alone, though not always, never seen them pack assist, though that doesn't mean they don't. but like I said, they're usualy alone.

First off, I'm a Master Ranger and you still cannot find out what animals are BAF without shooting them, although rangers are pleading to be able to see this in the /examine window.

Concealshot lets me solo longhorn missions, mountain squills, and even some faction missions. You have to use the terrain and rocks and such so you are blocked from view by their friends and you can use concealshot without getting a family reunion on your head.

as it is now, NO.

your target will never see you, but all of his friends will kick you arse while you lay prone.

Conceal is only needed if you don't have a tank. If you have a pets, go for high damage weaponry.

Unfortunately, some the best advice here do not always work.Terrain or 63M does not guarantee success, as mobs have a tendency to be airlifted and land on top of you. Since you are prone and using a rifle, you are down in 1 hit before you can even get up or switch weapon.

Two paths. Flush 2 or mind shot 2, then flush 2.

Reasons:

Flush 2 does best damage outside of strafe 2. It hits an area, so, with a decent pet, you can be hitting 3/4 mobs all at once.

Mind Shots stack. So, with mind shot 2, it is not hard to get ticks of 1000 each on a mob. That usually drops most mobs with no down time. I used to use this on mercs (exp of 3700 to 4500 per kill) with no down time. Baf has changed since the last patch. So, you might need snorbals or something to use this method now. With a pet, you could also, bleed a monster, then have pet tank. This would reduce down time to what you need to heal pet.

I personally hate conceal shot. Would be useful, but, the multiplier is very small and the mind cost are very high. If you are on drugs, you can spam it till a monster is dead, but, I don't like the down time of drugs. I guess now you could pay for a dance at the cantina instead of drugs and use it. The other down side is you are shooting so much you run through weapons faster.

Well, thank you all very much for your advice. Seems to me that I need to figure out where to go with this. Is there a website that explains how much damage each special does?
