Thread: Rifleman skills with BH?

It must be my contrary streak, but I am using up myskill points in rifleman. I am still undecided about whether to keep novice medic and put the remaining 18 points into rifleman, or whether to say to hell with it and put all 33 in.

Soooo....Are there any riflemanout there that have beenBH in a past life that could give me a few tips on where to put the points? I was thinking of grabbing conceal shot as a first step, but am not sure where to go after that.

*Disclaimer*

Yes, I know that rifleman sucks unless you master

Yes, I know putting points into carbines or pistols would mesh better with existing BH skills

Yes, I know this will probably gimp me and make me whatever the opposite of l33t is

But, for me personally, I just feel that the LLC does not belong as a BH weapon, I would rather that BH were given a rifle or gadget line instead. In my mind the only profession that should be using heavy weapons is the commando, so I want to beef up my rifle skills a bit to compensate.

Thank you for your time

well you could go for the accuracy line...headshot 3 and snipershot are good skills in that line..plus you wont miss 'every' shot you fire.....

but I would not suggest doing this....you wont be able to go headon....but mainly play support from the back using the rifle then

PVP or PVE?

If PVP, sniping 4 would be somewhat useful for ranged DB, and if that BH carbine kd/dizzy move doesn't work then flurry 2 might be useful. There's nothing really useful for PVE since concealshot is only good for getting more rifle exp and the AEs are no good unless you spend more skillpoints than you have available.

Sniping 4 needs 20 skillpoints and novice medic is probably better to have.

POKEY THE PENGUIN SIG REMOVED BY GARVA BECAUSE "Just because you are crafty enough to get around the technicality of it being a .jpg or .gif does not mean it is not an image, it is not ascii art, it is an image" SO HERE IS MY NEW SIG.

Good point, I forgot to specify. I mainly concentrate on PvE, I will try PvP purely with the BH skills. I am not a big PvP'er and tend to only get into small skirmishes that I am well prepared for.

As for conceal shot only getting more rifle xp, I see your point, but I thought it might come in handy for softening up the BH marks a bit.

heh thats how i ended up an EX-BH ) i took up rifles for conceal shot since BH weapon skills are so bad for doing their own missions. ended up dropping BH and mastering it.

Well, you can probably have some fun with riflemen even if you don't master, but like you say it may gimp you.

Option 1

0033

Skill pts used: 30

Skills: Flurry Shot 2 and flushing shot 2 (+ startling shot, which is of little value)

Powerful AOE and moderate speed with poor aim

Option 2

2111

Skill pts used: 30

Skills: Head Shot 3, Mind Shot 2, Conceal shot, Flushing and Flurry 1

Moderate aim, strong mind pool attacks, ever-useful conceal shot, mod AOE shots, with slow speed

My $.02

Cheers,

I answered this in the BH forum too... I'll recap here.

I am seriously considering forgoing the BH combat line altogether.

You can Master Rifleman with BH 3-0-0-0 (enough to get high-paying AND player bounties) and still have enough to get novice med.

That's my plan anyway.

yeah, i'm considering that too

in answer to the original poster... Barb and I were both longtime BH's before switching to rifle. I stopped at 3/4/4/4 bh.

If you're going to dabble, I'd go 0/1/0/x rifle with your bh skills. spend as many points as you choose in rifle special abilities for more speed. take conceal shot to soften up tough marks.

the bottom line is that at x/4/4/x bh, you should be able to take out marks without much difficulty anyway. if you find yourself getting wasted, change your tactics, get better buffs, etc. the new chef foods should make marks easy kills. Given that, taking any rifle at all is just going to give you a different way to kill a mark, not a better one.

Dabbling in rifle skills for pvp will have next to no utility, unless you want to go all the way up sniping to get snipershot for ranged db. without rifle speed mods as well, eyeshot will do more dps with a good pistol than you'll be able to do with headshot3.
