I hope this will help my fellow rifle men. I was just as irritated about the jax nerf but to be honest it was needed.

Our biggest problem is we can not solo big game prey. Some will argue we can with conceal shot but its just not cool missing the 53rd shot and your only 1/3 down the health pool - or whatever. I am here to tell you we CAN solo big game. I am pulling in close to 100K XP an hour doing this. The most important component in doing this is the warning shot ability.

Here are the steps needed :

1) Buy a fast low HAM DLT20A and get it sliced to be about 3-4 sec speed.

2) Buy a big damage laser. Slice it for damage not speed. My own laser is 26-454. T21 is even better if you have it. Well, I dont because i'm on eclipse.

3) Drag your 2 weapons to the hotbar because your gonna be switching between these in combat.

4) Go to a big game planet like Darthomir, Dantooine or Endor.

5) Find a prey. I like to kill whatever i can find on Dantooine. That includes Pikets of any type, Voritors, Bols and so on. You can get missions for them. At the imperial outpost on Dantooine missions are < 600m away.

6) When you get to the lair switch to your high damage weapon and tag it with 2 mindshots from your laser. If your new to this pick the "Piket" mobs on dantooine because they are kinda slow and big (can still outrun you though). With a little luck it is now bleeding combined for about 1200-2200 damage. Your not even going to have finished the 2nd bleed shot before the first of its friends is going to charge you. Thats ok - finish the shot then immediately switch to your DLT20A and tag whatever mob is closest to you with a warning shot. Tag it again if it misses. You should see the mob turning around and running the opposite way. Of course, while your doing this you are running away from the charging mobs as well to buy time. switch to the second closest mob and tag it with a warning shot also. Now the mobs who you did not bleed will probably turn and charge you again. Thats ok, tag it with a warning again. Now it should leave you alone (it does most of the time). Meanwhile, the mob you bleed should be runnign back and forth at you while you yo-yo it with the warning shots.

You can shoot it with some HS but be warned that this will make the mob turn and charge you again. If you have cued up a few warning shots but need to immediately switch to another MOB then hit PEACE and retarget. This clears your attack que. After about 2 minutes the mob goes down and you are 3900-4900 XP richer. The good part is you will have only spend about 25-30% of your mind HAM. This is in my experience. So you can chain kill 3-4 mobs before you need a quick rest. Make sure you are able to close in on it to < 64m when its about to go down. If some of its friends are in the way the warning shoot them and charge towards it.

Switch to your Laser again and tag the next mob with your 2 mindshots. Rinse and repeat.I realize this isn't "easy" to do but i am honestly not having any major problems after a bit of practice. If you need the practice with kiting multiple mobs with warning shots then try it on gnorts for instance. It is also more FUN than Jax or Kimas. With practice this is THE WAY to get xp as a rifleman. We have big bleed shots. We should take advantage of that.

Looking forward to hearing your opinions.

Tips :

Make a macro that shoots both your bleed shots to conserve hotbar space. Like /mindShot2;/mindShot1;

Also get the command "Peace" on the hotbar if you dont already have it. Its a fast way to clear the attack que.

A fast way to target the nearest mob to you is : Ctrl+1 (targets your self) then press the TAB key once. This targets the closest mob to you. I found this very helpful in certain situations.

If you need to grind XP then use stat migration to up your Mind and focus/willpower. It makes a huge difference while XP'ing.

Group with a droid and park it somewhere remote for the XP bonus. The difference is about 800XP between grouping with it and not. It does NOT have to be in rage for the xp bonus to kick in.

Use your RADAR. Hunting big game prey usually means there are other mobs around the lair that would love to take you down. So watch for red and yellow dots on the radar.

Get novice medic and get some Stim B's. Put a macro in the hotbar that says /healdamage self. Pushing it will automatically heal you with a stim B from your inventory. This is very helpful if a mob gets too close and gets a hit in on you before you can warning shoot it away. Push the heal and you have 1/2 you health back. Helpful in PvP as well of course.

So the mindshots stack ? good to know.

With mindshot + warning shot you should be able to kill most melee animal mobs.

Yes the point of using the the DLT is the very low HAM costs. If you can get a custom made spraystick made with low ham then even better. Not sure how low spraysticks can go in this regard.

Btw the spraystick might be the way to go if your not very high up in your rifle tree yet. If you are then refire rate on a dlt20a warning shot will be about 2 seconds anyway.

would it be effective to use an E11 rifle for the warning shot? the speed is 5.7 on mine..but the mind cost is 40, is that too much?

I found that Torturs are easy and they don't attack in packs. They are found of Talus, they are gaint turtle looking things, easiest place to find them is north of the imperial outpost, in the mountain area. They give around 3k exp with a pet grouped, and are easy to handle since they don't group, also you gain some distance on them when going up and down the hills if you have exploration 4. Same strategy will work perfect here, except no other creatures to warning shot away.

I have tried stacking mind shot 3 on several creatures, it never seems to work for me. Can someone either confirm or deny whether MS2 stacks? I don't think it does.

Mind shot 2 and Mind Shot 1 stack, Mind shot 2 and Mind shot 2 do not. Same goes for 1 and 1.

I found this quite effective if you change the DLT20a to a Spraystick.

How's the HAM on spraysticks? I figured the point of using dlt was to cut the HAM use way down.

Tazei wonderful post although I disagree with the method I was patient and read all the way through .

My reward was learning two very valuable things from you , the MS I and II combination macro ( wonderful idea and makes me wonder what the hell else I'm not macroing but should be ! ) and your method of getting the closest target to you by pressing the target self macro then Tab'ing out to the nearest target .

Oh , lol and something ELSE that I have been searching for , that is the self targeting , self healing macro . What I was doing was " target self " macro , then " healdamage " macro . WONDERFUL that I can combine these two awkward steps into one nice fast panic button .

So I thank you for the information , that part of if I find extremely useful , like I mean usefullness on a scale of one to ten , they are all three of them , perfect tens .

Now , onto what I don't agree with , and that is the warning shot yo - yo . This is something I did with great success in Beta before they nerfed WS . I now find that when I attempt to Warning shot something away , it does not run away MANY times , I would guesstimate 50 % of the times . It usually takes at least three hits with my pistol before it " catches " . And I'm not talking about three misses , then a hit and they run . I mean the Warning Shot hits the MOB , and it does nothing at all . Especially against the harder red con MOBs .

What I do is use trapping now . Even with the low scout skill mods to trapping , I find the slow trap will hit the target minimum 75% of the time . I'm not talking Durnis , either I'm talking big , bad hard red con MOBs with 10k plus HAM bars .

With Ranger trapping maxed out , I'm getting at least 95% success rates on slowing down a target MOB . Best part is , it slows them for soooooo long . Like 20 seconds , and in this time I have run out to 55m , shooting all the way , and I am watching it's meters away indicator and as soon as that number starts draining fast I toss another bomb , which hits almost always . Then you just rinse , repeat until they are dead . It's extremely rare that I have to fire off another batch of MS I and II . I mean like the hardest biggest baddest MOBs all drop to the MS I / MS II combo in time . IT's so reliable and effective that I have to recommend it over the Warning Shot method .

Another thing I don't like about the yo you method is that every other shot you are firing off is a Warning shot . It's like , WS , HS III , WS , HS III and your just hoping and praying that WS hits and sticks . I never worry about the traps missing or sticking . They always hit , they always stick . Wonderful tool that I feel is a must have for the solo big game / XP hunter .

So aside from that disparity in our methods I want to thank you again for the Sterling tips . As a Beta vet and opening day vet I didn't really think I would find information this usefull that I didn't already know .

Best of luck and good hunting

Jon
