(Rating on Gun + special penalty)x (1 - your skill/100) = seconds to next shot.

If your gun has 7 seconds and you useflurry1 (3 seconds, I think) then

(7 + 3) * (1 - .9) = 1 second.

btw, cannot get lower then 1 second.

I think x/x/x/4 gets +60 is it?

(7 + 3) * (1 - .6) = 4 seconds. Quite the jump, eh?

Fred,

Unless something has changed, that is not the correct formula.

I refer you to: http:

//forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=rifleman&message.id=22780

The special delay is a multiplier, not an addition. Thus, the actual formula is:

Actual Speed = Weapon Speed [* Special Delay] * (1 - (Personal Speed Mod * .01))

(I thinkis better to refer to it as the "Personal Speed Mod" rather than "your skill," because tapes can increase this number; however, your /100 is just as good. I just prefer to multiply by .01.)

Thus, take a master Rifleman with a personal Speed mod of 90 using a 7 second T21 on Autofire (no special delay):

Actual Speed = 7 * (1 - (90 * .01)) = 7 * (1 - .90) = 7 * .10 = 0.7seconds per shot

So a 7 Second T21 can be fired on autofire by a Master at the speed cap of 1 second per shot. In fact, with the resulting .10 from the personal speed modifier,a Master Riflemancan autofire any rifle with a 10 second or less speed at the speed cap.

That same setup firing Strafeshot2 withits 3.5x special delay modifier would be:

Actual Speed = 7 * 3.5 * (1 - (90 * .01)) = 2.45 seconds per shot

If the formula you gave was correct, it would be:

(7 + 3.5) * (1 - (90 * .01)) = 10.5 * .10 = 1.05

This would suggest that a Master Rifleman could fire Strafeshot2 (and, therefore, all Rifleman specials, since Strafe2 has our longest delay) with that rifle at almost the speed cap. I can guarantee you that a Master Rifleman with no additional speed mods cannot fire Strafeshot2 at the speed cap. It is at least the 2.45 seconds calculated by the other formula. I know because I use a 7 second T21, and I have +2 to rifle speed from tapes, and I still do not hit the speed cap with my T21 using Strafeshot2

I use a 7.4 spd T-21 and a +6 to speed attachment, I fire at once per second with strafe 2. Man it rocks! I would reccomend using a speed sliced t-21 until reaching master however.

To answer your question, it of course depends on the special you are using. The personal speed modifiers come from your current level (30 at Novice, 40 at Special Abilities 1, 50 at Abilities 2, 60 at Abilities 3, 70 at Abilities 4, and 90 at Master). It can also be boosted by speed tapes and armor attachments, or by picking up Master Marksman (+5 to Rifle Speed).

As indicated above, the speed modifier is basically a percent reduction in the speed from the speed of the weapon modified by the speed delay from the special. Ignoring specials for a minute, let us look at just this rifle on autofire. It has a speed of 7.7, so on autofire:

A Novice has a personal speed mod of 30, so that isa 30% reduction in delay, so you multiply the speed by 70% to get the actual firing speed on autofire: 7.7 * .70 = 5.39. So a Novice can autofire a 7.7 T21 at 5.29 seconds per shot. For comparison, note the following chart:

Novice: 7.7 * (1 - (30 * .01)) = 7.7 * .70 = 5.39
SA 1: 7.7 * (1 - (40 * .01)) = 7.7 * .60 = 4.62
SA 2: 7.7 * (1 - (50 * .01)) = 7.7 * .50 = 3.85
SA 3: 7.7 * (1 - (60 * .01)) = 7.7 * .40 = 3.08
SA 4: 7.7 * (1 - (70 * .01)) = 7.7 * .30 = 2.31
Master: 7.7 * (1 - (90 * .01)) = 7.7 * .10 = 0.77 (speed capped at 1 second)

Now, each special has a delay modifier that is a multipier. Headshot3 has a 2.0x speed modifier, Concealshot has a 3.0x modifier, and Strafeshot2 has a 3.5x modifier. Refer to my previous post for a url to a FAQ referenced post on Specials for more information.

You can basically take the numbers above, and multiply them by the special delay, so at your current speed mod (Special Abilities 2), you could fire Headshot3 at 3.85 * 2.0 = 7.7 seconds per shot, Concealshot at 3.85 * 3.0 = 11.55 seconds per shot, and Strafeshot2 (not really possible since you are not a Master yet) at 3.85 * 3.5 = 13.48 seconds per shot. Taking those same three shots, here is how each level could perform with that rifle:

Novice SA1 SA2 SA3 SA4 Master
Autofire 5.39 4.62 3.85 3.08 2.31 0.77<-(speed capped at 1)
Headshot3 N/A 9.24 7.70 6.16 4.62 1.54
Concealshot N/A 13.86 11.55 9.24 6.93 2.31
Strafeshot2 N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A 2.70

Note that at Master Rifleman, the only thing you are firing at the speed cap with this rifle is autofire. Even a special with a 1.5 speed delay would push you over the speed cap with this rifle.

As shown in my previous post, you can calculate any rifle, with any special delay, with any speed mod by using the following formula.

Actual Speed = Weapons Speed [* Special Delay] * (1 - (Personal Speed Mod * .01))

If you wish to calculate the autofire rate, leave out the special delay or caculate it as 1. Also, cumulative speed mods can exceed 100, but anything over 99 is meaningless. Just use 99 for those.
