This is NOT a Riflemanissue, but since I usually only read theRifleman and Smuggler forums, I'm posting in both.

Last night on Eclipse I sliced a couple of weapons for a guy and when we were done, he sends me a tell asking me if he could ask something (hmmm... seems like he just did!). Anyway, he told me the followingstory:

(This took place at Coronet star port.) He claims that he was out front yellingfor training inPistolwhen suddenly another person runs up. An "Invite to Group" box appeared from this guy and he accepted. He then claims that he got a message that he lost 8000 Medical Experience. He then claims the guy immediately disbanded and ran away.

Now I had already finished slicingfor him and he had paid. He wasnt trying to get anything out of me. He seemed like a very nice, honest person who felt like he had been ripped off and didn'tknow who to turn to.A couple of more questions to him revealed that he had at some point earlier in the night dropped some medical boxeshe didnt want. So that made me a little leary, but he swore that the story happened asI described above.

Does anyone knowof an exploit that would match this situation?? I told him I would ask around.

Lets say you have medic 4/0/0/0 and have maxed out your Medic xp and then you untrain all medic skills down to novice medic. You will have alot of stored upp medic xp that you can train up. But the accual max on stored Medic xp is ithkn 2000 when you are Novice medic.

So when haveing lets say 40k xp and you heal someone or do anything that will give you med xp you will instantly go down to 2k (As when you get medic xp it makes an chek on your current xp and notice that you have alot more then you should be able to have so it just removes it) All xp works this way.

Did it make sense?

I've never heard of that happening in those exact circumstances. I know that if you drop a skill and have residual XP capped above the skill you dropped and you then use the skill ( in this case heal someone ) to gain some xp, you will lose pretty much all of the capped XP. That's happened for a long time though.

It sounds like he was asking if this guy came along and "stole" 8000 Med xp from him? If that can happen and someone is exploiting it, I sure hope it's fixed soon! I don't know if it would be a reportable incident because we don't have any real evidence I guess.

Yeahl, I ~~new~~ knew about dropping below an amount you had accrued, as I lost a lot of Scout XP when I dropped ranger and gave up a lot of boxes for Smuggler. Thats why I said I was leary, but I never got a message later telling me that. I asked him 2 or 3 times if it happened exactly the way I wrote it and he stuck by his story. I'm not convinced though, but he also thought it was very weird that the guy would invite to group, then without a word, disband and take off.

Yeah it does sound a bit dodgy to me.. Of course it could have been a completely innocent act of N00bness on the "grouping" parties behalf. The problem is we ( You and us ) are getting second hand information heh! It's always difficult to come to a conclusion from second hand info .

I think it might have just been the XP cap popping, it's happened to me when I dropped scout as well. I got the message like 2 days later straight after I logged in "You have lost 20000 scout XP".. Talk about LAG!

No its not dodgy i trained down medic and didnt loose xp, then about half an hour later i must have triggered the xp cap detector and i lost all the xp i coulndt hold at novice medic

Well the triggers seem to be using a skill that would give you experience in it, like dropping a camp after you get rid of that whole tree or healing someone's wounds after dropping most of medic. It doesn't just happen randomly you have to do something and getting invited doesn't make any sense but who knows.

My guess is, the hit-and-run guy was looking for App XP, and just running around spamming group requests. The other guy accepted, and the hit-and-run guy chose the 'teach' option from the radial. That triggers the system to look at what skills and XP your friend had, and it pops the cap - and heloses all his saved up XP.

losing saved up xp is the stupidest thing ever...i lost a bunch of med, crafting, carbine xp.

There is sometimes a delay in the new cap kicking in. I had about half an hour delay when i dropped a scout skill. It must have conincided with the person inviting him.

its annoying but its not an exploit.

I think you have answered the question. It was NOT an exploit.. sounds like several of you have seen the "You are losing XP" message long after dropping the boxes. I will report back to my friend what is happening.

Here's another possibility and as dumb as it sounds, I have had this happen to me so it's certainly possible:

Sometimes you are able to "heal" yourself even when you don't have any damage. You will use your mind pool and medicine, you'll see the heal animation, but obviously you will get no XP and your green/red bars won't be any fuller than full.

I wonder if the guy who lost the 8k medical xp accidentally hit his heal button right as the other guy invited him or something like that? I have submitted bug reports on this but it continues to happen.
