After a successful raid last night, we decided to go back and to do another harassment run. We were all covert, but they dropped a covert scanner and a short fire fight ensued. There was a lull, then another fight broke out, and because I got mind poisoned, I retreated to safety. While waiting for the mind poison to subside, one of my guild mates (a master fencer with some doc) who happens to be my RL son, was fighting with several of them. So I was able towatchall this on his screen because hewas sitting rightnext tome. Anyway, he made it across a nearby river, and two odd things happened.

First, when he came out of the water, despite the fact that he was dozens of meters away from the shore on dry land, his status bar said he was still swimming, this meant that hewasunableto center of being, and he was handicapped in the fight. Second, as they pursued him across the water, they were able to continue to shoot at him even while they were swimming themselves. Of course, without being able to center and being outnumbered and with no relief from the onslaught, he was killed.

Now, of course, he was mad, and blamed them for exploiting by being able to fire from the the water. I just assumed that the same glitch that caused him to seem to be swimming when he was not made it possible for them to fire while in the water, and, of course, who is going to think to hit peace in the middle of a firefight just because they started swimming?

But someone told me today that there is an exploit people can actually trigger to cause these two symptoms.

I did not want to scream exploit because the game is glitchy enough on its own, and jumping to conclusions is rarely healthy exercise. However, if this is a known exploit and it was intentionally used, the guilty parties need to be reported. Therefore, I would like to know if any of you are aware of this as being an exploit and whether or not it is something that also happens from time to time on its own (because even if it is an exploit, that does not necessarily mean they triggered it). I have never personally seen this happen before, so the combination of things does indeed make it seem suspiciously like an exploit. However, I do not want to falsely accuse anyone either, so your input would be appreciated. I need to know whether we need to report this asa bug or an exploit.

I also wanted to alert everyone to the bug itself, because if it happens to you, it is not easy to get rid of. We tried everything we could think of, but even though he died and was rezed and even though he disconnected and got back in, the swimming status stayed with him. I am assuming it will be gone when he logs back in today, but it was wierd.

Hmm, did your son have any connection problems during the day? maybe there was a delay and he was still in the water although it looked like he was out of it, and the persuers had not reached the water yet and where firing. this sometimes happens to me when i get high packet loss, i am running around and wierd stuff is happening.

Just a thought.
