...when you can be a carbineer-pistoleer hybridwielding a CL54,no-cert, high damage rifle? Seriously, cross-weapon certs are just out of whack. It's a good theory on paper, but in game, a master carbineer using an advanced laserrifle caneasilytoast a master rifleman simply because he can now use his specials at long range.Three contributing problems I can give offhand:

a) General ranged accuracy - This needs to be toned down a bit, as it tends to give just a bit too muchdamage. Maybe changethe currentattributes a bit on a 70/30 scale.Asan example, a rifle box (or any box in it's respective weapon tree)that gives +10 GRA should split into +7 rifle accuracy and +3 GRA. Thatwould effectively support cross-templating, reduce the effectiveness of weapons wielded by non-masters,andmake the master box a little more powerful and desirable.I don't believeGRA should be capped, that way tapes and FS branches can still grant a noticable boost.

b) State resistances - I'm not totally sure how state resistances work (even with testing), but it seems to me to be based on the spreadsheet offense accuracy vs defense formula. If this is true, then lowering the accuracy of weapons used independantly of their trees (by nerfing GRA a bit) should fix the problem of anyone using a rifle to land a state. This makes a lot of sense if you think about it - a master carbineer should be effective only in his/her specific range (40m ideally but ingame it's the same as pistols, 32m - this should be addressed in the carbineer forums IMO) and have sorely reduced effectiveness with any other weapon, unless they also have mastery in that weapon.

c) Weapon certs above CL of respective novice box (30) - If a weapon is going to be uncerted (or just CL cert) it shouldn't match or surpassthe power of profession specific weapons, especially in the master box. Having stuff like this effectively nullifies (for the most part) the use of the entire profession!

Conclusion: I'm hoping these things will be fixed, because they seem potentially game breaking to me. The CU was aimed at augmenting existing professions, and while it's done a lot in thisregard,it needs to do more (a lot more than suggested here)to make profession masteries worthwhile. PvP is very much a matter of the dreaded "I win" button, but it also features a lot of promise to get the whole Star Wars feeling right.

Oh yeah, and fix rifleman. <3

Instead they could give all high level rifles an extra -70 accuracy penelty and give Rifle accuracy modifiers in Rifleman to negate that penelty

Infact they should do that with all high level weapons because believe me, when you've already mastered a profession it's going to be hard to grind a second when your weapon is a spraystick of some other pathetic thing.
