Thread: Which is better speed, damage or accuracy?
From my observations so far, accuracy is still important. It now boosts your damage if your Accuracy rating is high enough it seems and, as always, it doesn't matter if your rifle is listed as doing a billion points of damage with a speed of 0.1, if you never actually hit anything you'll never do any damage! ![]()
That said, Rifleman by itself does get a very nice Accuracy rating from the combination of General Ranged Accuracy and Rifle Accuracy mods. In general combat against opponents around my level (Dantooine missions) I've not been missing my target often enough to give me any concern. A knockdown or state effect is far more likely to not stick to my target than I am to miss the target altogether.
You'll need all the accuracy you can lay your hands on to be able to hit a Jedi Master Defender, of course. But that's true of everyone, including other Jedi.
After that, I'd say damage is the next most important stat, FOR RIFLEMAN. Sniper Shot has an extremely high damage multiplier on it (I'm pushing up towards 4k damage before mitigation on some targets) and my rifle is definitely not high-end on my server. When Sniper Shot is fixed to either not "clunk" or tell us why it's clunking so we can avoid it, it should make for a very nice "opener" for us. The more damage your rifle can do, the higher the damage you're going to get out of that initial shot and the more damage you'll then pile on with your other moves (or further snipes if the target is being tanked).
That said, speed should not be ignored. It seems to reduce the "recycle" time of the skills you can "spam", such as Ranged Shot. A 1,000 damage rifle with a modified speed of 5 is still useful, but probably not as useful as an 800 damage rifle with a base speed of 2.
As for your question, why not grab both Accuracy and Speed? Will just one or the other finish your unlock? If your main weapon is already below a modified speed of 2, I'd suggest going for Accuracy, as I think you'd see more benefit from that as you're already firing quite often and the +12 speed boost probably won't make you fire that much faster.
I've already unlocked and completed my Accuracy line and have started working on Speed. My opinion may very well change once I have more than one Speed box, so your mileage may vary! ![]()
