Thread: I look forward to the upcoming Big Patch(tm) with a mixture of dread and anticipation
It is difficult to acquire animal resources in bulk when you spend most of your time incapped when hunting social critters.
The social aggro changes will be a tremendous boon to my livelihood, assuming they work like we all hope they work.
But there's a little part of me that worries that they've snuck in some small nerf to Conceal Shot, so it won't be as effective, and I'll be stuck in mostly the same situation I'm in now.
If the changes go in without a nerf to conceal shot I would expect one soon after. ![]()
Hopefully they will be reasonable, but after recent events I'm not so sure TH can work out how to access the rifleman forum or correspondent email system. (I'm sure you know what I'm getting at VG
)
Having said that I think the extra accuracy from TC will help a great deal in soloing.
Somthing like:
Hit, hit, hit, MISS, burstrun
*5 minutes later*
Hit,miss, "you are too tired to burst run", "Clone Activation...."

Yeah, that's my fear as well. My concern is that the Devs will say "Whoa, this is MINIMAL RISK! WE CANNOT ALLOW LOW-RISK ENCOUNTERS!" and nerf it somehow.
But really, what's the problem with trading speed for safety? It takes FRO EVAR to kill something with Conceal Shot. Seems to me that "slow and safe" is a perfectly viable alternative to "fast and risky."
Oh I agree, but you know the Devs.
Someone will post "I killed 15 krayts without dying using conceal shot!" and they will hit the nerf button. The guy will leave out the bit where it took him60 minutes for each krayt.
You would never make it to 60 minutes before a CH comesby and smacks it down with 2 Grauls.

I think that is the point. Conceal shot would be a very handy tool, but hardly an effective way to abuse the system as it has such a low damage modifier. However often nerfs seem to be poorly thought out, as shown by the T21 nerf without reducing the HAM cost or resource requirements.
Not enough people know about conceal shot for them to nerf it. It aint like a T-21 where it has PVP applicationsand NON-Riflemen can see it- Thank the higher force or whatever you believe in for that![]()
i was thinking that concealshot should be nerfed... but then i thought back to when i tried to take out an at-st the other day with it....
and yeah.. when you have to fire 3 million shots the chances you will miss go up pretty significantly.
the more i think about it, the more i realize though that concealshot is really the realm of the solo hunter... you can't abuse experience gain with it because of how long it takes to kill a red con... in fact it's actually horribly inefficient so i don't think they will add a nerf to it.
honestly i would not mind giving some of the toughest npcs a chance to detect it though.. it makes perfect sense that lair of bolma's wouldn't know what the hell was going on, but it makes alot less sense that the bevy of nightsisters would'nt figure out where the 400 shots slowly killing each of them is coming from.
although i'd swear some of the mobs in the game already do this... ever tried to concealshot a mountain clan dragoon? it seems like every time i try after a couple shots they've figured it out and start sprinting towards me.
