I'm just wondering which rifleman specials (I'm master rifleman) will hit an opponents health as often and as effectively as headhot3 does. I know overcharge shot 2 (master marksman I believe0 does hit health often, but it tends to be random.

There isn't one. All other specials are random HAM damage.

so I guess overcharge shot is the most effective of the non-mindpool specials.

Yeah KnighHawk's correct, the rest of our attacks are Random Pool Damage but I'd guess the Ratio to Health / Action / Mind damage with random attacks would be something like 3 : 2 : 1.. So you'd hit Health 3 times as often as you would Mind.. That's just a guess but It seems to work along those lines.

hitting the health bar with ranged weapons exclusivelyis the province of pistoleers. each of the big three targets one pool. rifle hits mind, carbine hits action, and pistol hits health. hybrid classes and melee classes can do this but those are special cases and have their own problems. i am speaking of just the big three elite combat profs.

I would recommend Strafe2 (no-brainer) for general use. However, it seems that with AoEs being a BIG no-no in the Corellian Corvette for example, you may want to try Startle2. I believe that is our hardest hitting single-target attack(4x?).

EDIT: It seems Startle2 is also AoE (like I ever use it ). So, replace it in the paragraph above with Surprise shot(3x).

....but startleshot and surpriseshot are still random pool shots. There is NO rifleman shot that will only hit the health pool but you will hit it 60% of the time.

btw,

I often use Flurry1,Flushing1,Startle1 to get as many stats on a humanoid target as possible. Quite viable in the Corvet and worked well... till I met up with the Uber Droids of Death.
