I'm a Bothan.

My mind isn't as good as it should be for rifles... what are my possabilities for new stats? I like the ability to stand some of a chance while unbuffed.

I do not know the max stats for a Bothan, but the key to surviving when it comes to using specials is to boost Focus, Strength, and Quickness, with Focus being the primary stat for Rifles. Those three stats determine how much HAM you use when using a special. Since all weapons use all three HAM bars, you do not necessarily only want to boost Focus, but you can get by boosting Mind and Focus at the expense of the other stats since you can use heals to repair damage to the other two bars.

I personally have 700/500/400 for Health and Action and 800/800/600 for Mind. This is not enough to allow spamming of specials unbuffed (depending on the weapon) and I have more in Health and Action and its secondaries because I am also a Swordsman, but it suffices to allow me to popa Pixie, a couple of brandies, and a couple of canapes to get by when I need to. Constitution, Stamina, and WIllpower (the HAM regen stats) are important, but if you are unbuffed, you are not going to be regenning that much in a short battle (and it should be short if you expect to survive) to makea difference, so it is much better to not use the HAM to begin with than to try to recover it quickly within the battle. If you are buffed, these stats will be at sufficient levels anyway.

Your stats also depend on whether you expect to wear armor at all. Many riflemen shy away from armor, but you should at least be able to wear a helm, a chest plate, and boots or pants. And you should be able to do so unbuffed, so you will need to adjust your stats for at lest that minimum configuration when unbuffed.
