Thread: Check out what my rifle did!

yeah, that was specifically put in so you can't conceal shot something large all day and kill it. eventually, it gets the worthless bleed, and agro's you.
Actually, Blaster, I do not think that is entirely correct. At the same time we started noticing this with Concealshot, other forums started posting similar posts like, "I was hitting a Rancor with Hit3 last night and I noticed a bleed icon showed up," and things like that. Also, if you read the "Official" strategy guide, there is a paragraph which seems to makea connection between wounds and bleeds. While it is true that bleeds, especially high level ones, cause wounds to the secondaries, the context seemed to suggest that wounds would cause bleeds.
So it may well be, as you speculate, that they put inthis "feature"to make Concealshot a little more dangerous. However, since it seems to be that it affects all professions andsince the official strategy guide (which was based on alot of Beta info) seemed to connect wounding to bleeding the way it did, I am of the opinion that they just made a correction to the code to bring things in line with their original intent, that is, that a bleed may result from taking wounds.
When this started showing up, peoplespeculated that there was a greater chance of this occurring with a higher damage weapon and higher damage special, but because of the possibility I have mentioned, I personally think that the chance of this occuring would increase as the chance to wound increases. Thus, it is likely more linked to the wound chance % number than the damage itself.
Anyway, that is my 2 cr. worth
After you folks came up with the idea that the higher the wound % on your gun, the higher the chance for a bleed, I decided to do some research.I have to say that I agree with the idea, although I have no formal testing #'s or dev-stated proof. If I use a high wound % T21 to conceal on a high-end MOB, say a DJK from the imp outpost on dathomir, I will break conceal once every 15 minutes or so. If I use a much older, much lower wound % T21 I can go pretty much indefinitely without breaking conceal and have made it through several large MOBs. I have never brokenconceal using a laser rifle with its low wound % either, but have gotten overly bored with concealing forever due to the lower armor piercing.

Not exactly a professionally-done lab experiment, but I think this is very good to know. I was under the impression it was just a random thing when using concealshot, but this thread is sure making it look like the weapon's wound % instead.
*Waits patiently for Sotaudi or 'PJ'(hehe) to bring back some real numbers*

Unless I can find a mind buff (which is rare), there's just about nothing I can hunt that won't kill me pretty easily with a mind incap. I usually just maskscent, use a speed or mind cost powerup for my rifle, and conceal shoot away! Is that bad? I figure it wouldn't be possible if it was an exploit. . .
No, no- we aren't saying concealshot is bad at all. Everyone knows how useful it can be given the difficulty of advancing through Rifleman. What we are pointing out here is that it can, at times, be dangerous if you are not aware of the possibility of this weak bleed that pops up. As long as you are prepared to deal with it, there should be no problems
