The regeneration of Canape is good to get. I like 2x Brandy, 1 Ahrisa, 1 Canape. More focus is not useful.

Hi folks,
Was wondering what you PvP'ers out there favor for your food selections.
I have been going 2 x Ahrisa, 1 x Synthsteak up until this point....but a lot of my guildmates seem to like Canape. There is a big benefit with Canape, but I don't like the short suration. Others have also recommended Thakitillo, but being a Rifle/Doc with almost no KD defense I wonder if it would actually make any difference.
So I've been throwing around some other combos...
- 2 x Canape (one after the other for a total of about 20mins effect), 1 x Synsthsteak.
- 3 x Canape (usage as above)
- 1 x Thatkillo 1 x Canape
I really really like the overall defense Synthsteak gives (since I have no melee mitigation, but its great against all ranged damage as well) so Im really loathe to give that up.
Any advice?.

Your method of 2 ahrisa and 1 synthsteak is your best option I'd say. Ahrisa is the secret riflemen's best friend. Same benefit for 3 times the duration. Willpower, which is where half the energy in canape is spent, does very little for us riflemen. The gain in focus from Ahrisa, with the lower cost and longer duration make it a better option in my opinion.
Any talk about what foods to eat and HAM costs would probably best be addressed by stating you stat migration also btw. If you start with very little focus/mind, you may have to go with canape in order to not kill yourself, but if you are like many riflemen with 1100/1100/800 base mind, you may be able to get by with much less.

Good point Odite
I am a Zabrak with Focus/Will/Mind of 500/900/1000 which is Max for my Species. The Focus is an issue.
My equipment allows me to fire anything at the speed cap, so I get punished quickly for not having over 1500 focus.
Even 1 x Canape does not get me high enough really, if I want to wear armor (which I do), you are probably right in the food selection.
Its a shame because I really wanted to try out some other stuff....oh well.

I've been using these foods lately:
Synthsteak (40min x 40% reduc)
Citros Snowcake (35-42 to accuracy)
Brandy (Depends)
Ahrisa (Depends)
Canape (Depends)
Muon (Saftey Net)
--------------------
x1 Synthsteak like 10-15 min before an attack.
x2 Brandy Right Before
x1 Ahrisa Before Arival
x1 Canape as attack starts
x1 Snowcake as attack starts (pop as needed)
I use the Muon if I begin to bite off more than I can handle.
Works very well... Mind is high, I hit alot more, get damaged less in the start.
Can usually take 3-4 vs 1. In most attacks.
Only drawback is all this food cost alot hehe.

Does the citrous snowcake provide a notcible increase in accuracy?
Could be useful for taking out those stackers once the stun lands.

Honestly... I hit seem to hit more and all in all its cheap. 30-60k for a crate of 4-5 use (10 stacks)
Get some and give it a shot its all about trying new things together.
With stun Im sure it would help but Im a Doc too so people cant really land states on me for to long.
Only mistake I made on my PvPer was, I made a human. Wish I woulda done Zabrak. Leveling out all your
bars is nice when they are getting mind low, Just use the Race skill and heal health. Ahh well.

Heh at least you're human! I'm Rodian so my focus maxes out at around 500, I'll have to play around with my armor so I can eat two ahrisa and a snowcake.
I'm also a doctor, being able to heal states/poison/disease is very cool

Yup Rifle / Doc almost totally levels the playing field with CMs and State Tossers.
Unless you meet a CM that eats food that lets him throw faster then you gotta work more.
Remember Stun is gooooood.
I dont even try to hit with dizzy anymore, 70% + people have defense
Vs. Stun and or Posture chng so its a waste of needed Master Headshot time.

Bought some Dodge food tonight (Pyollian (?) cake, +48% to dodge, 28 fill), will prolly try and decide which
is more beneficial out of that and the Snow Cake. So many foods to choose from! (its all good).
Before someone tells me I don't have any dodge, I read in the Chef forum that this food actually boosts your Ranged and Melee defense, making you harder to hit. No one seems to know exactly by how much, so might have to do some experimenting....

Ahh, the food was Pikatta Pie. On the off chance anyone cares, here's the explanation from the Devs:
How do dodge foods work? Do you need to have the skill or equip a pistol/1-handed weapon? And why don't I see "creature tries to hit you but you evade" in my combat spam?
The dodge bonus foods (Air Cake, Pikatta Pie, and Deneelian Fizz Pudding) are not actually giving a buff to the Dodge skill. What they do is add a bonus to the player's defensive skills, which determines whether or not an attack hits at all.
These foods will not cause you to see "creature attacks you but you evade" in your combat spam. They should cause more attacks to miss you completely. If a hit does occur despite the food's bonus, then any evasion skills (dodge, counter, block) the player has may trigger, but that is separate from the effect of the food.
Since the bonus is added to the defensive skills of the general to-hit formula, it benefits anyone being attacked, whether or not they have the dodge skill.
The raw benefit you receive would depend on your existing defensive skills (melee/ranged defense, center of balance, etc) and the offensive skills of your attacker (weapon accuracy, bonus from posture, range modifier from weapon, etc). Someone with only 20 in defensive skills may see a large difference after eating a +20 Pikatta Pie. A master of an elite combat profession may see a smaller percentage increase in missed attacks since the Pie's +20 has a smaller contribution relative to their inherent defenses. (04-12-2004)
