Ok guys, I keep hearing that +97 will speed cap us on any T21. Can someone explain to me what this is based off of and why +97 and not, oh say, +95? Also the faster the rifle the less speed mods are required to cap you, right? any help or knowledge is greatly appreciated Thanks guys

97 speed will cap a 7.5 speed rifle, while using 4X time modifier specials.

That's why its the magic number.

some people are stubborn and say that having +100 speed is better. but those people end up paying an extra couple of mill and sacrifice more slots for the +3 speed that they dont need, since rifleman has been one of the most popular profession since the day this game launched, most anyone who wanted to be "uber" when this game came out built the MRM/MCH combo and owned anything in a duel. but since then CH has been nerfed to walking your dog, but rifleman has pretty much stayed on top. people have been testing speeds and damages extensivly for over a year and they've concluded that 97 is the lucky number. i'm not 100% sure if the game actually capps you at 97 but if they cap you at 100 (which i'm not sure it goes over 97) then you'd only get use out of it if you were shooting a rifle thats over 8.5 speed or higher. so i guess those guys with 9.5 1500 max legendary t-21's could use this. but for you, just buy some aa's and get it up to 97 and you'll be fine

with a +97 rifle speed you cap on any weapon 9.9 speed or lower

Hmmmm. Their formula may be a bit off. Here is how I came up with 9.3 .

(3.5) * x = 1; x = 1 / 3.5 ; x = 0.28 (rounded)

0.28 is the modified speed the weapon needs to hit to hit the cap with SS2 which has the longest delay.

At +97 you are doing 3% of the listed speed. So the formula should be as follows.

(.03) * (y) = .28 ; y = .28 / .03 ; y = 9.33

If I don't round the 0.28 it comes out to y = 9.5238

Where:

ws = maximum weapon speedto be able tocap

sd = special delay multiplier (using 1 for the delay for autofire when no special is used)

pm = personal speed mod

The following formula tells you the exact maximumweapon speed with which you can cap given a specific speed mod for a given special.

ws = 1 / (sd * ((100 - pm) * 0.01))

As you indicate, we use Strafeshot2 with its 3.5x modifier as the benchmark since it is our slowest special and if you can cap with that, you will cap with anything.

So when pm = 97 and sd = 3.5:

ws = 1 / (3.5 * ((100 - pm) * 0.01)) = 1 / (3.5 * .03) = 1 / .105 = 9.5238

So, the exact point at which you start firing at 1 shot per second is with a weapon speed of 9.5238, or 9.5 since weapon speeds are given in 10ths. Thus, you 9.3 speed will fire at the cap, but you can go higher. However, depending on where they do their rounding when calculating actual speed, Dragon is not wrong either. Using the basic speed forumula, you can plug in a few what ifs and come up with the following:

Weapon Uncapped
Speed Speed
9.5 0.9975
9.6 1.0080
9.7 1.0185
9.8 1.0290
9.9 1.0395
10.0 1.0500

Thus, you can see, it depends on where they round when calculating the actual speed. If it is rounded to the nearest 100th (or more) ofa second, the point at which you cap at 9.5 with 9.6 being a hair over the cap. If they round to the nearest 10th, then 9.9 is at the cap and 10.0 is at 1.1 shots per seconds.

So, whether or not they round to the nearest 10th of a second, 9.5 is the tecnhical point at which you are speed capped (because you are rounding up to 1 shot per second at that point), but for all practical purposes, you are not likely to notice the difference between1 shot per second and 1.0395 shots per second. Thus, it is safe to say you can use a weapon up to 9.9 speed and still cap whether they round to the nearest 10th or not..
