I'm a master WS and MRM as you can see in my sig. I've been making a load of DXR-6bs now and I'm beginning to get pretty good at it. I'm using the best resources of Bria to make my scopes, stocks (although they're a bit worse since I'm a 10 pointer) and all the other components. Now here's my question:

I seem to be able to make +120 ideal modDXRs with these resources, is this useful when fighting those hard melee professions like Fencer and Swordsman or do they all dodge a fixed percent of ranged attacks? Add a Citros Snow Cake to is and you got +160 accuracy at 54 meter, less if running around of course.

I tried it on a Master Fencer/Master Swordsman myself and the results were pretty good I must say. But I'd still like to verify...

Accuracy does indeed trump defences - there is no cap on accuracy and generally the more accurate you are the more often you ignore the defenses of the target. a +120 is a nice rifle ontop of you rifleman accuracy and some snow cake and you should almost never be block'd/dodged/counterattacked.

Yeah, I made myself a +117 @ 54m acid rifle just special for those hard to hit targets, and tested it out on some guildies.

1st a fencer/swordsman. In the 45-60m range, he could not get me to miss. Not one shot missed, was dodged, blocked or countered.

Then a mid level Jedi. I took up a prone position, and let loose. Better than 1 shot in 3 was a hit, against an unarmored target.

Granted, in one-on-one fights no one is going to let me take a good firing stance and let me keep an optimal range, but in a guild war or GCW battle, it's not hard to arrange for good shots.

Accuracy does nothing vs. Dodge. It helps overcome ranged defense.

Really? Well... It still sounds good for the tag line, esp since Jedi don't really dodge anyway.

Well, what I typed is not ENTIRELY accurate. The way dodge (or any other secondary def such as counterattack, etc) works is this.

The shot is fired and a mathematical formula determines whether it hits. Several variables are used such as accuracy on weapon, range, player accuracy mod, whether you are moving, etc...

Your accuracy mods (on the weapon and player) make it more likely each shot will hit. Ranged defense (since we are talking about rifles) makes it less likely. IF the shot calculation comes out as a "hit", then this is where dodge comes in. There is a chance based on the dodge modifier of evading any "hit", thereby avoiding the damage. (This is why if they dodge a bleed shot, for example, you might observe they will take no damage but the bleed still sticks. But that is another discussion.)

So, indirectly the range accuracy mods do help you with dodge in a indirect way. The more variables you can get to help you hit the target, the more often you will land a shot. This helps with dodge only in that then there are more "hits" they have to dodge.

Bottom line is, accuracy is good and you will hit things more often with a highly accurate rifle. Good work!

boegi's correct.

also, you said you tried it on a master fencer/master swordsman. what was he/she holding in their hand? a fencer weapon or a 2h weapon? that makes a BIG difference. if you say the results were pretty good, i'm willing to bet your tester was holding a 2h weapon.

Hmm, I can't remember. Didn't pay attention to it really. He's normally always wearing a Gaffi stick, but I can't be sure of that. Anyway, there's a load of people that have this kind of rifle already and I haven't heard any complaints yet, so I guess they're happy.
