Thread: Range mod change suggestion

I have a laser rifle with an ideal of 60m and is +20 at that range. The max range is 64m and is -50. That is a 70 point difference for 4m or about 12ft. Seems a bit extreme to me. So here is what I think would be a good fix.

Make the modifiers be based on how far from ideal they are. For example : -15 for every 10m from ideal or something like that. This would make a rifle as bad at close range as a pistol would be at long range. Carbines would be in the middle with their close and long range mods about the same. This would also simply the weapon screen as max and close wouldn't have to be listed anymore. Just list the ideal and the mods per 10m from that. You could even make the rates different for different weapons. Laser rifle is -12 per 10m while the DLT is -15 per 10m or whatever.

Seems like it would be a fairly simple system to use. Better than the -70 for 4m yet it's only -100 for 60m if I compare my ideal and my point blank.

This sounds like a good idea to me.

I'll leave it to the mathmeticians to figure out how but as long as the 3 wepons end up living in 3 seperate ranges, I'll be happy.

That is a very sound, logical, and reasonable idea - which is exactly why it will never be implemented.

I still don't understand why they never did implement a ranged system like you suggested.... made much sense.
