well the carbineer does have a pretty valid point

the ranged classes should be somewhat equal...rifle shouldnt be the end all and you shouldnt have to stack bh and pistol/carbs to kill one master rifle dude

It's not a problem with riflemen as such, it's a problem with a poorly thought out combat system and ridiculous level of buffing.


Once the speed equation is fixed, and buffs and armour are significantly reduced and everyone elses specials get fixed things will even out fine.


On the negative side, Riflemen will probably fire slower and will not be able to spam as many specials - they may also move slower with a rifle equipped


On the plus side, they'll still have AP3, which neither Pistol or Carbine users get, and should still be very accurate at long range.


I don't think the biggest issue is the ranged classes relative to each other - I think it's ranged vs melee.


Melee chars are waaay too powerful right now and need to be brought back into line with everyone else.

Only when put into the context of the game as it is today and today is a bastardization of what it was and should have stayed as. Remove buffs and we become the prof with the insanely impossibly HAM costs and our DPS drops significantly. So does our ability to take hits (no armor) so we get massively "nerfed" relative to today and brought back to last years model. I could easily go into this point more and more but it's been done to death before.


Beyond that, we also have the most working specials so that right there weights combat in our favor. In the land of the blind a cyclops is king. All the reasons that we aren't overpowered but other systems cause us to appear that way have been written about a hundred times over in this forum. Solve the root issue (buffs, and by encumberance being linked to buffed stats armor) then tweak professions to work with each other. Right now you're truly comparing apples to oranges when rifleman gets stacked up against any other prof. Nerf us now and then re-do buffs and other key combat "requirements"and we get double plus ungood instead of just a regular nerfing. Once to the prof proper and once again to the problem that made us overpowered to begin with.

See my sig. Riflemen IS balanced. It's the fact the other professions have not been brought up to standards that makes people cry nerf. Personally, I think commando should be the end all profession, followed by BH, riflemen, carbineer, then pistols.


But who cares. Jedi is going to get more powerful, us weaker, and the bitching will never end.

I would rather them lessen the power some, than have us fire slower or move slower. This conversation is centered on PvP, whichI don't do, but still. . .
