I am currently a Master Heavy Swordsman ... I was thinking on going rifleman ...

1. Land some bleeds from afar,
2. Lang some good dmg from afar,
3. Same damage type as rifleman.

So, what do you guys think about this? Is it a good idea?

PS: I taught of also maxing my dfence modifiers .. but I heard that it will be fixed in the next publish.

I was thinking about going the same way, but as a master rifleman, you do just as much dmg at point blank and you basically never miss. Opposed to swordsman you miss quite a bit. I decided to drop swordsman though and pick up combat medic and group that with rifleman.

I am Master Rifleman/Master Swordsman/Master Brawler with Medic 0 1 0 0. I enjoy it a lot. For PvE, I use the PH more than my rifle, but for PvP, I use my rifle more.

Bleedswerenerfed so badly with the last publish that I do not know how much I would consider moving to this template because of bleeds. There are plenty of reasons to go this route, but unless theyunnerf DoTs, this is not going to be a major advantage to the combo.

Good damage from afar is a good reason, but even more so when you consider that the two professions share the same targeted pool for damage. If you start at distance, you can hit mind with the rifle and, if they close on you, you can switch to the powerhammer and continue doing mind damage. That is a big advantage. When I leveled rifle, I used a pistol for dealing with up close attacks in order to avoid the 2.5x melee modifier at the time. However, this meant I was either switching to targeting the Health pool or to random pool attacks, so, I was essentially starting over if I started out targeting mind. Being able to stay with the same targeted pool is a definite plus.

It is true, as someone else mentioned, that you seem to hit pretty well at point blank right now. Add to that the fact that they made a mistake ina recent publish when theytook away the 2.5x melee damage modifier on rifles. They were supposed to make us easier to hit by melee attacks, but they actually made us harder to hit. Those two things together make it viable to continue using a rifle while up close.

However, themelee to-hit bonus will be fixed as of the next publish. This will have a big effect because we will not be going from being harder to hit back to normal, but from harder to hit all the way to easier to hit. Also, if we are hitting so often at point blank range that there is no incentive to get away or switch to another weapon, they are bound to change that. Rifles are supposed to suckat point blank. Even if that latter does not change, we will be taking more damage up close soon, meaning having a melee defense option available will again be desirable.

Regarding maxing out defense modifiers, yes, they are capping the amount of defense stacking you can do with the next publish as well. This means thatdefensive stacking templateswill not be unhittable anymore. So there will be less incentive, for instance, to go Carbineer/Swordsman to pick up CounterAttack bonuses. It will still be an advantage, just not as much of one.

Frankly, I love the combination, and I have no intention of changing anything. And I would recommend you picking up Master Brawler if you can. They are nerfing Warcry, but Lunge2 for the KD helps a lot.
