Thread: Thoughts on Rifles after 7

well i just became a rifleman and i have talked to experienced members of the ahazi community that we are so hard to hit due to the 2.5x dmg mod, not because we stack 191 ranged and 171 melee. so here is what im thinking. they fix our nice dmg mod...then they cap our ranged. rifleman will die easy. in pvp we can't sniper people, thus making us sitting ducks. we can like kinda stand there....and hope we can do enough dmg. everybody is wearing stun armor now. and armor is way to beefy imho as it is. i personally run around with 90% armor left over from the 'krayt wars' and i am a tank. and i can't die unless i am poisoned.


and i hear about our speed cap at 3. but see if think if we cap at 3 and have +25 rifle speed we should cap at 1.5 ish or 1. i spent alot of money to shoot at 1 per second and if im capped i want a refund of my 6 million ish in armor attachments.


but i think rifles are going to be sucky after the patch. u can't actually sniper in pvp as u can in pve where ittakes them a few shots to see you. i think that would be cool tho if somebody shot at me in the prone mode...and i coudn't like see them until like 3 hits landed or so. would give a rifleman the time he needed to do a amount of dmg. alot of the time i catch myself kiting everybody and anything trying to kill them. granted i rarely loose. but i will drop rifles if i can't kill people anymore.


as to this point when sony gives a class "loving" they really beef it up. then they come back next publish and totally nerf it and make the class useless.


as an example look at carbineer. new flavor of the month after pub 7 easily. then they will nerf its ability to knock down everybody and there mom.


i will be rather disapointed with rifleman if i am totally stunted in fighting and die on a whim

What they are seeing isa bug and a template stack that uses our weapons. Also,there is a bug with AoE and cone attacts which we depend on heavily.End of story. If those guys aretelling you anything different thenare trying to delude you or are deluded themselves.

Well lets see riflmen will still be able to hit the mind pool with a highly damaging weapon at speed capwith a damage type that is most likely to have the most effect not too mention probably still good accuracy.The changes may curve a couple things but keep in mind the accuracy mod you are talking about involves melee not range weapons. Melee supposed to have an advantage to hit riflemen at close range but apparently the programmer got a couple variables confused.

oanother quick point if you get knockdown nowadays its yout own fault . Any one can easily purchase BEknockdown defense foods that provide moree protection then several professions combined.

First of all, where on earth do you get that Rifleman get +191 Ranged Def, and +171 Melee Def. that is a bunch of garbage. A Master Rifleman in no way, shape or form is given this much defense. You obtain that amount of defense by mastering a second combat profession with high defense mods or takeing skill trees from various professions, the most popular combination being MRM/TKM/Fencer x/x/x/0.


Second, the 2.5 damage modifier that the Rifleman was stricken with has nothing to do with the "stacking" issue. One, the 2.5 dam mod was taken out. 2 That mod made equiping a rifle suicide against any mid to high level mob.


Last, the stacking of professions results in not being able to be hit, results from the stacking of Dogde, counterattack, and block combined with Defensive aquity and combat equilibrium being stacked, makes it so that a pistoleer/fencer with stacked dodge skills will dodge 99.9% of all attacks.


The reason the Rifleman TK Fencer combo is so popular is the combination of highR/M def mods, some dodge, some block skills, and high combat equilibrium and aquity.



ONE final word. THERE IS NO SPEED CAP GOING IN. OK 7 words....

Melee to-hit bug is fixed, defense stacking is fixed (125 maximum), AOE bug might be fixed. That's it.

sigh defense stacking doesn't help against melee even tho i have 171 melee the fencer with lower accuracy still hits me 85% of the time.

Have you fired a rife before? With the 75% PvP reduction, we can easily do as much or more damage to our own un-buffed mind than we can to anyone else's...add armor to that, and PvP, once again, is pointless...

he has a point tho, u dont have to be buffed if ur any other profession cause u just get a little medic,
