Thread: Going Master Rifleman, should I bother with Pistoleer or Rogue?

Current Template includes Master Rifleman. Will Smuggler Dirty Fighting Line plus Pistoleer speeds or accuracy help? Or once I become a master rifleman I wont even have to bother with pistols?

Throwing some Smuggler in there could be fun, but do not even bother with Pistoleer. That is as far as complementing Rifleman itself. It may be a good idea to combine with the Smuggler part of your build however. At Master Rifleman, missing isn't an issue at all I find unless all you do is run around at 20m Grab a +5-8 speed tape (whatever you can afford) and you'll be firing at once per second no problem.

I have been Master Rifle since October, and just made Master Smuggler Sunday.
This is what you get from Smuggler pistol line:
-- Panic Shot.... delays the targets by 10 secs. This is the best of the three shots.

-- Last Ditch... High Damage, but slow shot.

-- Low Blow .... Knocks target down. You will find in most cases that the target gets back up within 1-3 seconds. The only way thisshot is useful isif you follow it (or precede it) with Panic Shot. Then the target MAY stay on the ground for 10 seconds. When the target is on the ground, the damage you do is increased.

So typically in PvE you would do this:

Low Blow (KD), Panic Shot (Delay), Last Ditch, Last Ditch, etc....

The only cross-over with rifle would be to do this:

Low Blow (KD), Panic Shot (Delay)... switch to rifle... spam your most powerful rifle shots

And you dont really need the KD... just delay them for 10 seconds with Panic Shot and then switch to rifle and blast away.

The (possibly) obvious question here is what is the difference between Suppression Fire (actually in the Marksman tree I think) and Panic Shot (Smuggler Dirty Fighting tree). They are both on a timer... that is, K think you have to wait 30 seconds after firing before it has the chance of sticking again. The only difference I can detect is that the Panic Shot seems to maybe stick a little easier than suppression fire.

Knowing what I know, I personally would not use the skill points on Smuggler Pistol if I was anywhere near Master Rifle. Go get defense instead.

First of all, way to go Wayne!!

Second, thanks for more insight into Smuggler which I am none too familiar with

FallenLore, if you want to skip pistols altogether you could try FlurryShot/SuppressionFire for a 'Rifleman KD'- Very reliable for enemy NPC's, sadly not so much for anything else. That is until they make SupressionFire worth a _____

Almost afraid to try combat while I'm using my shady new laptop, but I guess I'll have to sooner or later

Rifleman, like teras kasi, is a fully self contained elite profession. What I mean by that is you are a powerhouse in and of yourself.

Pistoleers, Smugglers... they are not strong on their own, and need more skill points to get things done.

We are all praying for a balance of power with the combat changes but I'm not holding my breath.

While switching from Master Pistol to (almost) Master Rifle I kept the CXP branches in both for awhile. Having melee defense +80 was nice.

Hmm go with defenses?

Im close to TKM atm and I decided I needed some ranged support. So I picked up Rifleman and working towards master. My alt is a Mast Doc/TKM and I love it. So this toon will have buffs 24/7.

Soo . . . which defenses are good with a TKM / Master Rifleman? And does Ranged Mitigation stack?
