Thread: Forgive my ignorance, but...

I haven't spent much time on the Rifleman forum, simply because Ranger and the Crafting forums need more help and you beings have been doing fine here.

That being said, I have to ask the following questions for discussion:

A) Has anyone noticed/spoken-out/heard from the Dev's about the changes to Conceal Shot? And by changes, I mean, no longer works. Now, this wouldn't be so bad except...

B) As a Master Rifleman, none of my effect shots have any affect whatsoever on High-CL MOB's. Case in point; today I went out with a group and we ran into a Black Sun Triad. None of my effect shots (i.e. Strafe, Startle, Supression etc) did anything. No stun, no dizzy, no posture change, nothing. AND I AM A MASTER RIFLEMAN!

Yeah, Conceal shot may have been a bit strong, but Suprise doesn't do ANYTHING, and my Effect shots should do something. This is way out of hand, and results in my doing nothing more than spamming HS3 or Strafe2 depending on who I'm fighting with.

Lets not even get into Take Cover and its uselessness.

Again, I understand that their is to be a re-balance, but to do this (nerf concealshot) without giving us something in return is plain wrong. How about giving us our Conceal shot back until the re-balance so that Rifleman is viable again?

Haven't heard of any changes to ConcealShot. Closest I've heard is that they are changing the to hit formula so that there is always some chance of a miss. Even on lairs. This of course will have an effect ConcealShot.

Is something else going on with it? If so please expalin exactly what isn't working.

High level MOBs have resists to pretty much all status effects. Your level has nothing to do with it.

I'm not aware of any changes to concealshot either. Works fine for me still.

As for the effects, I got Dizzy and Stun to stick on some Bolle bols last night very easily(helping a guild memer out ), but had zero luck a few hours ago on NSs(cause I wondered if it would work ). I really doubt your level comes into effect at all- it's just that the high-level mobs have better status defenses. Or else they hack. I think it's the second one

the dizzy effect from our tree is only usefull on npc, it was mentioned in the ranger forums that all other creatures ignore this state(that why they have a trap for it). You can get the flag to show that a creature is dizzy but it dosnt change anything on the creature, only npc's can be effected.

On a couple of occassions, I've not had the success with Concealshot that I used to have, most notably, vs a Kimogila and vs a Black Sun Assassin...

They weren't misses, it simply did not work. I got off four shots and then bang, they keyed in on me. Its especially concerning as I am a Master Ranger who was camo'd at the time...

I'm going to explore this more today. About the only change in my character was an increase in some skill mods via a lightweight backpack. I'll get back as I get more info.

Did you check to see if the MOB was suffering a bleed? A ConcealShot will sometimes cause a 1 point bleed. That could have been the cause of the quick aggro.

Also what range were you at? If the MOB gets fairly close they can detect you normaly.

I conceal Shot Kimos all the time(Well I live on Lok silly). Maybe it just Aggro'ed you because you got to close, those things have really bad tempers.

Were you using masked scent or Camo?

I was camo'd and at 60 meters (ideal range) in both instances. I don't recall seeing the bleed icon or animation in either case, but I was a bit busy and could have easily missed them.

Could have been just a fluke, though it seems to me that I'm being detected more frequently than I was a few weeks back. Either the Law of Averages has caught up to me or there is a change of some sort...I'm still looking.

Dunno about your Black Sun guy, but in my experience, krayts and kimos like to warp. Why? Because they're huge. At least, that's the best explanation I can come up with. Any other time I get a warp is when something is trying to get to me, but is stuck. After a few seconds(if it's still alive ), it'll warp a nice 100 meters or so. Perhaps due to the size of krayts and kimos, they are more easily 'stuck' on things even if they are too small(or even just not there) for us to see them. Not a great theory, I know, but something sure seems to be making the big things hop around...

Your theory is correct. The larger MOB's have a larger 'footprint'. Because of this they cover more area on the ground and are much more prone to get 'stuck' on a pebbleor some other objectthan smaller MOB's. Which leads to more warping.

did you switch to a new rifle lately - one with a higher wound percentage will cause the random bleed more frequently.(or so goes the theory) and if that is the case you would see them aggro more often
