Thread: advice for a new rifleman

i'm a pistoleer refugee, and will be a master rifleman in a day or two...my question is basically this: can i do all the stuff i see people posting about as a rifleman/smuggler?....i also have the techniques tree in pistoleer, but i will drop dead before i pick up any melee skills, as this is a star wars game and i prefer to play it as such...i've seen a lot of threads where you guys are saying you can solo krayts, and ns elders, and the geo cave, etc, etc, but then the poster invariably says his template is rifleman/fencer or rifleman/tk, so i'm wondering if i'll be able to do these things, plus pvp, with no melee at all....thanks....

Exactly what things are you wanting to do? I use to be a Rifleman/Smuggler.
You should do alright against NPC's. As Rifleman you have an area Dizzy attack. Which stacks up nicely with your ranged KD with Smuggler. Though the weapon switch delay is going to make it more difficult.
I found that Feign Death was helpful in many cases also.
You should be able to do many of the things the others can. Maybe not as well in some cases, but you should be better in others.

I am currently MR/MS (Rifle/Smuggler) and it is only because I enjoy both professions
immensely. In reality, the two professions do NOT complement each other... It is not
really a good PvP template, but is good for PvE. The Feign Death is great in areas
such as the Corvette and the Geonosian cave, but a better defensive template would be
better probably.

thats cool, thanks for the response guys...wayne, i'm in the same boat in regards to smuggler, i enjoy it even though its borked, and was planning to play a smuggler since before the game launched...i finally gave up on pistoleer after 8 monthsand came on over to rifleman since everyone says its the best ranged prof...if i can't compete in pvp that's ok, but i would like to do some damage on group hunts to the corvette, geo gaves, etc, which i could not do with pistoleer...also, just from experimenting with conceal shot while i was levelling, it seems to work on just about anything, so i guess theoretically i could solo a krayt if i wanted to sit there for an hour, right?...anyhow, thanks for the responses...
