What are you opinions of the Bounty Hunter's Lightning rifle vs. our standard rifles such as the T21, Disrupter, Laser, etc.? I was thinking about going up the Lightning rifle tree of the BH profession to find out for myself, but I was wondering, before I do this, if any of you have any input or experience with this weapon. Thanks in advance for your input!

Don't do it. I am a master BH/master rifleman, and LLC isn't all that great, you can outdamage it with a nice T21. In addition, it doesn't benefit from rifle mods, so it has really bad accuracy at novice BH, and still bad at LLC 4 (only around +70). The only thing I use it for is lairs because it doesn't drain my mind to fire it, and you can't miss a lair.

Good points, but they also raise another question that I have. How do you all usually take out a lair? I've been playing around with different ways, but the fastest way I've been able to come up with, at my level anyways, is to spam it with Strafeshot1 until it explodes, but this take many minutes to do. Last night after I cleared the Rebel bases of all Rebels (I was running Imperial missions) I would spam the flags with Strafeshot1, and by the time I took out two flags I was able to read one story (like 20 pages) out of Tales From the Empire. That's sick!!! What can I do to make killing lairs go quicker, if anything?

Strafe 2 once you hit master is nice for lairs. 3-5k damage at once per second is pretty nice.

I have a little bit of experience with this weapon.
First of all, its not a rifle, its classified as a heavy weapon. So only your general ranged weapon attacks (overchargeshot, supression fire, etc) and your LLC specials you get from the LLC line will work with it.
Cons:
Inorder to use the LLC specific specials like Lightning Single and Lightning Cone you have to be within 16m of the target.
Max accuracy with this weapon at LLC IV (no accuracy mods at MBH... grrrrr) is +50. Compare that to the +170 you get a MM/MRM.

Low accuracy and short range makes it almost worthless in PvP (but, you can take snow cake and dead eye to make up for that deficit)
Its use as a support weapon (which it works great as) was lessened with the weapon switch delay

Pros:
AP1 and Electricy damage type come in handy in the higher end dungeons like the DWB and 'Vette.
High damage. With a good damage slice you can get the max damage up above 1000. I was scoring hits on KDed targets of over 8K in PvE.

LLC is a good support weapon. It won't be your bread and butter like a rifle. But, if something gets close you can switch over (wait 3 seconds) and finish it off if you want to, its also a nice to have in the higher end dungeons against the mobs that have lower electicty resists.

Well look at it this way, a bounty hunter has one tree dedicated to the LLC. A rifleman's whole purpose of being is centered around the rifle. LLC's are cool and fun to play with, but a master rifleman can do much more with a T21 damage and states.

On the issue of Lairs...
When doing faction missions, I used a storm commando. Park you bike out at 70 m from target, call the stormie, tell hit to stay, or guard or whatever. Then run 20 meters or so away and do your thing. After you've killed the NPC's turn him loose onto the lair. You don't get the XP for the lair, but Lair XP sucks anyway.
You can also do this with a non-CH pet, but its less effective.
To figure out which of your shots with which of your weapons will do the most generic damage, I would say check out the DPS calculator

I used to be a master bh untill I dropped it to go master rifleman. The lightning cannon is great for pve and killing lairs with lightning cone 2 but id say a master rifle man is much more valuble. Strafe shot 2 does a considerable amount more damage on a lair and you are also more versitile with your attacks and damage type (stun, acid, energy, etc). Example: Rifle man has ability to target mind pool or health pool. The LLC is a random pool so it could actually take longer to kill mobs. If your just curious to play with one go ahead and go for it but unless your going master bh dont bother. The amount of skill points and time necessary to train it is not worth it. Plus you miss alot till you reach level 3. Id say rifleman owns LLC. If you spam lightning single on a single target you will do a great deal of damage to a pool but like i said b4, its random. So you could need 1 more shot on health to kill a mob when all a sudden ur doing action or mind damage. Sometimes it gets frustraiting.
