Thread: At close range...

I'm working up the Rifleman tree. I'm also a Ranger.

My trouble is this: I don't have Conceal Shot yet. What do I do to keep the freakin' creatures over there where I can hit them? Because as you all know, once a creature gets into your face, they're practically impossible to hit, even with Point Blank Shot.

Everyone seems to think the rifleman are overpowered, but I'm not seeing it. All I'm seeing is being really screwed if the thing I was shooting at doesn't die in the first couple hits.

Rel Arasan of Bria

"So what you’re asking is “can a lightsaber block a magic missile?” The answer is no. A magic missile always hits its target. Period. The Jedi would move to block the missile, the missile would move, the Jedi would move to intercept again, the missile would move again, etc. Eventually the Jedi would tire or make a mistake and that’s when the Magic Missile would hit." -- Red Mage

when they aggro (you are a ranger already?) get up and run away while still attacking the mind - try running up and down hills....

and the best idea of all - pick targets you can kill in 2-3 headshots

Once he agros on you stop using conceal shot for one. Use startle shot. It makes him run away (sometimes).
If you miss twice with conceal shot you will get agroed, and playing as a ranger I know your patient. So make a macro that uses aim, conceal shot, and peaces out after every few shots to break the miss counter.

Now that the tefs are gone I can finally once again join the Empire(not falme bait, just a statment)

My question is what to to about wandering in a city and getting attacked by NPC Rebels, I am not a rifleman , working up the tree now, but my understanding they are pretty helpless should something move in to mele, I am a MCH so if I have pets out thats not a prob.....when there out and guarding me that is.........

How do you vet riflemen plane on handling this?

You will not see a big difference till you hit master, then WOW! I almost gave up the grind, but stuck with it. Man, what a difference Master makes in this profession! Trust me, it's worth the grind!

Myself I can cleaned out Moenia of Rebels last night without buffs and wearing ST armor only... generally headshot on the single rebel troopers and strafeshot2 on the groups. (I was also Special Forces active.... ) - when something tried to melee me I burst ran away

Get WarningShot. It can help keep the targets back. Other option is to get a tank pet or droid and use it to hold the target in place.

Also as a Ranger you have trap that slows the target down (Phenacrine Dart?). Go prone and fire off our first two shots. Then stand, throw the trap til it sticks. Then kite the target.
