Maybe I didn't understand it right but here's what happened. I just got concealment 1 tonight........my first rifleman box btw.......and so I'm running out doing some faction missions and decide to take on a Shaupaut hunter that is in a loose group of about 4 others. First one goes just fine, concealshot then peace out and repeat. The 2nd one I get about halfway into him and miss. Now the FAQ says that if I'm prone, which I was, I have 3 misses until it aggro's AND that peacing out resets the "timer". Well I shoot again and it and one of his friends aggro me. Was that supposed to happen like that? I didn't put a bleed on it, didn't miss again, and was only using a "macro" of

/concealShot

/pause 1

/peace

The other shaupaut probably moved into the detection range of you. If the target did not attack you conceal shot did not break. If it breaks - he looks right at you and comes a running for you. Shaupaut Hunters have some of the best detection skills in the game. If you have mask scent use that while firing it reduces their detection range a little

you have to stay 50-64m away from all hunters or they will detect you.

the part about /peace clearing the miss timer is just a rumor and does not neccessarily mean it will work

Yes, you will find some creature have better detection skills then others. When you are high enough to hunt on Dantooine, watch out for the voritors, they can detect you about 80m out from my experiences.

and kreetles... they seem to be omniscent - they know everything (and break /mask or /camo everytime)

Check the sniping accuracy tree, there's where you increase your chance of staying concealed. Right now I'm guessing you only have +35 in Rifle concealment chance.

Ok thanks, I did have Mask Scent on since I wasn't buffed and didn't feel like getting aggro'd unnecessarily by anything. I'm not sure how far I was away from this particular one, I want to say 50's or 60's but it may have been a high 40. Conceal shot definitely broke though because he was already standing from the miss, he turned right at me and then aggro'd, his buddy aggro'd and they both came running at me. Also to comment on what someone else said, I've never hunted much on Naboo and never hunted these things before so I didn't know about their high detection rate, Guess I should have picked on something else lol.

Ah once they turn if they are social... you get mobbed T_T. It can break with less misses then 3 but it is rare. You got caught by the percentages. You said you were prone while concealing? if so you just got extremely unlucky.

Anything with a name like Hunter in it it or some other special modifier indicates a special skill that creature has -

  • hunter = longer detection range (so this is probably why it broke)

  • Diseased = means they can give you a disease

  • Greater = bigger hits

  • Vile = poison (or disease)

  • enhanced means buffed up version

Thanks again, I also didn't think about the sniping tree mods. I guess I went a little backward from what the FAQ said about getting sniping 2 then conceal 1 then finishing sniping and then conceal before moving on if you're doing rifleman solo. I just figured conceal shot might give me a better chance at hunting current meat/hide spawns without getting beat up so I took it first. Right now my toon needs money more than he needs to do it the "right" way lol but in general I think the FAQ recommendation for solo leveling on rifleman is probably a pretty good idea, get the accuracy and stealth stuff before the stuff that does AOE damage.

Dont forget, you might start a bleed, which will insta-aggro the critter. Also if you get a couple misses that will aggro the creature (depending on your skill level, 1 miss may be all it takes to get aggro'ed)

Camo works much better (of course) in limiting detection, especially on worlds like Endor & Dathomir. Mask Scent breaks so often, even as a Master Ranger there thats its useless.

Dont forget the basics as well (like firing from prone to reduce chance of detection, and using /cover if you have the skill)

Well, I was firing from prone but not from /cover if I understand this as the right command. I only have the "take cover" special from rifles tree in marksman. When I try to peace out after doing a /concealshot I get a message that says "you cannot peace while immobilized" so I stopped using it since the idea is to /concealshot then /peace to make sure I don't aggro. Or am I not thinking right, should I just "take cover" and then keep the combat queue filled with a few /concealshots to make sure I don't fire a regular shot? I guess now that I think about it, since you can't do a basic /attack from prone maybe I wouldn't have to worry about peacing out unless I hit a bleed and then I'm in trouble anyway.

Ok, I'm a master Rifleman, now one time a few weeks ago when I finished mastering rifleman, I killed a canyon krayt dragon staying /prone and /takecover while doing /concealshot. Now everytime I try to concealshot a canyon krayt dragon it aggros me. I make sure to /takecover and stay at 64m. I don't know what's wrong.

You using mask scent? That's a good way of getting aggroed by krayts...100% certainty of getting aggroed actually.

If not, well, it's one of those things that have been stealth nerfed...never tried that myself in a long long time, took way too much time last time I tried.

Try moving back abit...you can fire from 67m...might help. /shrug
