What the heck is everyone's problem? Are you really that unhappy?

I LOVE RIFLEMAN!

I don't know how on earth that one guy managed to miss 32 times in a row, or whatever he claimed was the truth, but come on- i dont miss more than once in a row, if i even miss at all, and i am NOT a master rifleman.

I am being completely serious and honestwhen i say that BOTH of my so called "nerfed-to-death" classes ROCK people on a regular basis (and not just PVP, i mean animals and NPC's too)-

-As a combat medic i poison people and, yes, they STILL die even after thenerfage.

-As a rifleman i shoot people from far away, without missing mostly, and averageabout 1.5k to2k damage per shot, toMULTIPLE targets, with a sliced laser rifle and Flushing shot 2 (which has no time penalties like knockdowns do).

At this point in my game i am a Master Combat medic (which kicks ass- area heals can take care of my entire team for 1k heal or more in just one throw), and i am working on Master Rifleman with Sniping 4, none of concealment yet, Countersniping 3, and Spec abilities 2. My rifles fire almost continuously WITHOUT master Spec abilities, and i am 9 times out of 10 the only guy who survives when my whole group dies around me.

My character is not godly at all. I die in pvp sometimes, because that is hard, but overall i have not a single complaint about my gun or the way i am made to play the game.

And this is in all my nerfed glory...heh.

Another thing- SCREW THE T21- so we don't have it on Bria, big freaking deal, i can survive without it, and when it does eventually come to our galaxy i will then be even more happy because by then i will have Master Spec Abilities and will fire the **edit** thing as fast as a pistol

Also, have you guys stopped to read any other profession's forum log? They ALL scream about being nerfed in one way or another, and they complain just as much as we do, if not more.

All i am saying is that SWG is just a game; you can't reasonably expect to raise your rifle and instantly kill your target, and you also can't expect your rifle to make you the best character on your server, because it won't- Despite the turn based stylegameplay that we have in SWG, there is such a thing as being GOOD at the game. You really have to know where to position yourself strategically in relation to the rest of your group, which shots to use at what time, when to move around, and how to escape from groups of creatures (how about your spraystick? remember that suckything? I can warning shot awayas many creatures as you can throw at me, and to date i have successfully escaped from more than6 at a time, all rushing in to do the dreaded 2.5x melee damage... keep in mind that with Rifle Spec. Abilities your spraystick is a fully automatic weapon).

I would say that my footwork and combat awareness(due to my years playing paintball and studying military strategy at a UC school) are the best skills that my character has in the game. The same goes for any class- even Chef's must know how to fully exploit their characters for maximum effect in the kitchen

Now for the bad part--- Yes, riflemen suckat pvpin the beginning, yes you may miss alot without rifle accuracy mods, yes there is no t21 on some servers, and yes i have experienced ALL of those things i just listed... but now it's a different story- you actually have to WORK for the payoffs here, and don't expect to get them all in a week, or even a month of playing; but when it does all start to come together you will be amazed at the carnage you are able to cause with just one or two special moves.

So flame away, all you rifleman haters, but know this- i am having fun with my rifle, and you could be too if you would just stop worrying about the numerical side of the game and start focusing on the real strategy involved in playing SWG.

Oh yeah, and if some people hate rifleman so much, why don't they just change classes? Come on, we all play the game WAY too much as it is- don't tell me you couldn't re-route your character to carbine or Pistol inno time (a week or two max to get yourself started)

Personally i have never had more fun playing a game as i have while playing SWG, and believe me i am NOT a sony fanboy... i hate their console... but that is another posting

Flamers can just go right ahead now- i really dont give a crap what you say, but be mature about your flames- i don't want to hear how "**edit**" or how "lame" i am- try to come up with a REAL reason that you disagree, i would actualy really like to hear it for my own education

Hooah. See you on the Battlefield-

hey- wanted to add one more thing-

if you read this post, please at least bump it up to the top again for me--- i feel that this issue of nerfage is very important for the Rifleman profession in SWG, and i want as many people to read this as possible.

Hook this posting up and it will hook you up in the long run, as more people begin to respect your abilities.

thanks

I agree with you all the way! I have tried other professions and nothing gives me more joy than killing aAT-ST without it even realizing I'm there!

I'll reply.

Im not, and i think most are as well, are not saying we hate beign a rifleman!! Lets get that straight first. What i am sayign is that yes, i am assured that once a rifleman reaches the rank of Master then it shines as the profession should.

But there in lies the problem. Im a Master Ranger and 3/2/1/2 with my rifle. Now i dont grind away, i play the game and enjoy it. I shouldnt have to be a Master Rifleman to enjoy the profession.

What i wont do is hunt things that are easy to kill for the xp (snorbels - i hope they nerf em so that people dont use them to advance) i hunt things that are challenging. I hunt Mereks & Bordoks (i think that is what they are called)on endor, pretty tough things there, and i like it.

Now, as a rifleman, life is hard. I cant heal myself, but as a ranger i can camp and regen my stats pretty quickly, so that isnt a big deal. But being a rifleman with 2.5x dam is bad enough, but with the current warp bug, it is infinately harder.

I posted this previously. I was on Endor two moons ago, hunting a Merek Harvester, super tough critter, and i had him down to 100/9000 so i was one shot away from killing him. 4k Rifle xp, good for me, but did that happen?

NO!! He warped to the point where he stuck his claw up my ass and the proceed to pull my heart out of it. I got incapped in one hit, did something like 1.5k dam and then DB, and you know what, before the clone option had come up he died (due to the MS combo) so i dont get any points for my hardwork.

Lets chage the roles. Im a pistoleer same scenario, Merek is down to 100/9000, he warps, i get hit for 500, heavy hit but i survive! I get my shot in, and kill it. Get the 4k xp for it as well.

Now please explain to me how this is far? I wont even get into the fact that the pistoleer was shooting at the same distance as I. Now this hasnt happened, once or twice, butmany times to me. And beofre people scream warning shot, warning shot. You somply dont have time to get up and change and fire you weapon before you are incapped and DB. You get the famous "Target is too close for this rangerd attack" so the one chance you get, if you get the chance,is wasted!!

Personally, getting back to the 2.5x melle. I cant see the justificaition in this when we are fighting NPC & critters, i certainly can when we are a duel with another player but most high end critter are one shot hits to a rifleman, yet, us a rifleman are supposed to be all mighty, with the super strength that we hit with, ..oih wait.. that had been nerfed hastn it?(i do use a T21 and love it)

I am sympathetic to your warping experience, check out the other posting on this forumabout warping to see some responses to that- i didn't know it was a bug because honestly it rarely, if ever, happens to me-

i alwaysjustthought it was just lagg

Also, you will find that your ability to destroy people and creatures will jump RIDICULOUSLY the more you focus on skills trees other than Sniping- Sniping is the coolest sounding, but it really doesn't do as much as it should-

The real ones to get before anything else are Spec. Abilities, and Countersniping. Flushing shot 2 will be the best thing that ever happened to your rifle, and Master Spec will turn your laser rifle into a full-auto piece of hardware.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about being a rifleman, not that i am the best to answer them, but who knows? maybe i can help

thanks for responding to this posting.

to be honest i like rifleman, and the fact that you have to work to become a Master Rifleman. is all the more reward when you achieve it.

Its just the warp bug is a pain.

As a rifleman and master ranger one of my main tactics is using trap and terrain negotiations to my advatage, as well as the ability to use the MS combo.

At the moment, this isnt working for me, for the simply fact of the warp bug.

Now people constantly say, use your character the way it is meant to be, and a rifleman / ranger i think i probably use it to its fullest, be it traps, terrain negotiaion, mask scent etc.. im using all my skills, but with tis warp bug and the 2.5x melee damage we recieve it is making it considerably harder!!

ive recently got some Greater SLudge Panthers to help my cuase, now while these help alot, (they really do) i have still sinced be killed by warp bugs at least 5 times!! Which is 5 times to many.

If he was to run up to me and kill me (i have a chance to implement something) im good with that, and if i die it is my own fault, but with the warp i dont have anytime to do anything.

I am very happy with my rifleman so far. Throw a pet into the mix and we become even more effective. We have weaknesses ... as we should, there are still some bugs no doubt ...hopefully fixed soon. But in all we are a very effective class IMO.

Part of the problem is one of perception I think ... pistols being just as effective at max ranges as our rifles are, make us question the validity of rifles. Hopefully that will be addressed in the future too.

I love rifleman too but it does not mean it's fixed. There are still so many disadvantages to a rifleman that it sometimes feel like i'm just hanging on a thin thread with this profession. And what are those?

1) 2.5X melee penalty

2) warping mobs

3) 30-sec time on all posture changes (i.e. flurry, etc.)

4) does cover really work?

5) rifleman accuracy. In PvP, this is more evident; lots of misses.

I love my Rifleman, too. But the depressing truth is that my Rifleman is maxed out at killing the same MOBs that I was taking out with my Smuggler character. Of course, I wasn't at Smuggler yet. I was still only three boxes up the Marksman tree in Pistol.

That's the problem. The game isn't to scale. We lag seriously behind the other gunner classes in both effectiveness and XP collection. Now for the most part I think this means that other classes need to get brought down a bit (or, as they will call it, "nerfed so bad we can't ****ing play anymore!). But Rifleman either needs a DELAY TIMER on the 250% melee penalty or a fix for the warping MOBs. Guess which one is even possible to make work. Heh.

Yeah, I have a ton of fun playing my rifleman. I don't feel nerfed, I don't feel overpowered, and the bugs aren't that bad.

I would love it if the devs just left us alone. I'm not going to complain, about anything, I don't care if we haven't gotten the T21 on Tarq yet, when (if) it shows up, I'll be excited to add it to the collection. I don't care that I get my ass kicked in PVP sometimes, or if there's some other class that can kill things faster then me, and I can deal with the 2.5 melee damage, it keeps things interesting. I've learned to rely on more then just my rifle skills, a little swordsman and a little ranger seem to be a good mix.

The only bugs that I care about aren't rifleman bugs, they're everyone bugs, warping mobs, warping when prone (I have a sit; pause 1; prone; macro that seems to avoid it mosst of the time) will get fixed eventually, and while they might hurt me more in the mean time, I'm not going to complain about it.

If the devs just forgot about the whole Rifleman class for a month or so that'd be great, hopefully nothing too drastic will happen with mind heals to unbalance everything, and maybe they'll have some time to work on player mounts/vehicles/cities, and maybe a story line or too.

actually I think I'm going to start a new thread with my top 5 issues for this month. Something like this:

Top 5 issues for September, and a pet issue too.

1. Is there anyway that every rifleman could yell “WOLVERINES!” just before they start their attack?

2. We need pickup trucks with gun racks in the back window, or failing that, any kind of player vehicles/mounts.

3. beep! This is the EVERYTHING IS OK ALARM, beep! IT GOES OFF EVERY 3 SECONDS beep! AS LONG AS EVERYTHING IS OK beep!

4. Of all the classes we feel riflemen fit nicely right in the middle, not too weak, not too powerful, but we were hoping you could increase our middleness by about 10% or so.

5.We’re having a lot of fun playing riflemen, don’t change anything for awhile, and we won’t complain for awhile.

6. Pet issue: Take a break, compliments of the riflemen, we’ll see you next month.
