Thread: Mon Cal and Zabrack

I've been thinking about the Species stats, and how they relate to different Professions. When I started SWG, I happened to pick Zabrack (for Equalibrium). That became my Rifleman, and eventually my Squad Leader. As it happens, both of those two Professions require tons of Mind Pool.

A friend of mine picked Mon Calamari, and ended up being a Combat Medic and a Rifleman. Again, two professins that abuse the unending crap out of the Mind Pool.

For a while my Zabrack was stat bugged (you all remember that patch) so I decided to play around with a few other characters on another server, just for kicks. I wanted to see how much starting Rifleman has changed since when the game went live.

I don't see how anyone plays a Rifleman with any other species (except MAYBE Wookie, although I have never seen a Wookie Rifleman). Without either the huge boost to Focus or Willpower, I can't even conceive of doing the high-HAM cost shots, let alone what I had access to inching up the Rifle Marksman tree. As it is with 1000-500-900 (Mind-Focus-Willpower) on my Zabrack I sometimes feel I'd end up with less Mind Drain if I let my enemies fire the thing at me. If I were restricted to 400 Focus and 400 Willpower. . . and then if I were to DARE to wear armor. . . I shudder to think.

I feel sorry for y'all.

I believe race choice is the cause of alot of the "riflemen are weak" whining that goes on, I'm a Mon Cal and running out of mind just isn't an issue, regardless of the fight. Spices every fight might be a solution for anyone else. I allways have at least 2 crates of muon and 1 crate of pixie on me at all times.

I started this game with a twi lek , but soon realized that allthough ANY race can be any class, only a few or in some cases only one will be the best at it, of course this doesn't include the player's skill. When you don't have to think about how fast your mind pool is dropping life is great.

Jup they make the best riflemen. But both Zabrak and expecially Mon Calamari are ugly. Good for tweakers, bad for roleplayers.

Btw, a Master Rifleman can burn so insanely fast through specials (if he needs to spam) that

Yeah, I agree that Focus would be a better stat to jack than Willpower. Kind of makes me wish I'd gone Mon Cal a little bit. Then again, the absurdity of 900 Willpower should not be overlooked. My "sit down and regen" times aren't too hideous that way. Heh.

And as for Zabrack being ugly, well, get rid of your tatoos and put a hat on them. There you go, instant Human.

I'm a human rifleman. Bad choice, I know, but Rifle wasn't my main profession. I'ma Master Dancer first. I wanted a profession where I could shoot from pretty far back and not have to worry about dying. This is the goal. hehe. I die all the time while I'm leveling up, but once I hit master, I should be ok. I pumped up my mind stats (my health stats are pathetic, though) and I think I've been doing pretty well so far.

It's just, everyone is a pistoleer, a creature handler, or carbiner. I wanted ranged, but I wanted something different. On bloodfin, there really aren't that many riflemen around so I thought I'd be unique.

Although, I have been seeing tons of people lugging T21s around. I wonder if they can really use them.

If you discuss the best rifleman species then dont forget about wookiees .

1st) The wookiees have a race specific rifle weapon .. yes its the bowcaster (they hopefully get better one day).

2nd) You can get mind/focus/willpower at 1100/600/600 while keeping health/action at 1000/1000, and having all of the secondary stats (quickness, constitution etc.) at around 400. Sure Zabrak can get willpower higher, Squids can get mind higher, but how about the rest of the stat pool?

3rd) Wookie weakness, the lack of armor, it doesnt matter, as a rifleman you cannot wear any armor anyways.

Voi, I only glanced over Wookies because I have yet to see a SINGLE Wookie Rifleman. They all look so silly with tiny little pistols in their hands.

I am a Bothan. My original intent was to become a Smuggler/Weaponsmith, so I started as an Artisan. I didn't even fire a shot until about 2 or 3 weeks after starting the character (my first and most developed character)

Somehow I migrated into rifleman, then I wanted to become a Master Weaponsmith so I could make T21s (Before, I just wanted to be a 0/4/0/4 WS) to my liking and not have to worry about trying to get one while they were still in stock somewhere else. So much has changed....I hate hate hate hate hate re-rolling characters. My friends did this every 2 weeks when I played EQ, while I stuck with my ranger the entire time. I just dislike spending so much time on something just to throw it away. Otherwise, I would recreate my rifleman (now that I know what I want to play) as some other species, perhaps a Mon Cal for the extra experiment point. But I like fish for eating, not for pretending to be. Deja vu! Deja vu!

As it is, I did my stat migration to max out all of my secondary stats, so my mind is a mere 700/600/500.

My action is a 750/750/500. The benefit to these two stats the way they are is that I never need to rest when I am sampling for materials. I don't see a lot of people doing that, and I'm sure they have their reasons. I just might lower my quickness to increase my mind pool...

I'm a Human Rifleman and although early in my careerI do OK with mind costs. I don't really spam a lot of specials with my high cost weapons. Primarily I use DLT20a and T21 (my T21 has a painful 97 mind cost) with Spraystick just in case I need to spam warning. My Mind starts are 1100/600/500 and the only time I really have trouble with mind going too far down is when I have to spam specials a lot with spraystick. Otherwise I think as long as you stick with lower HAM weapons such as DLT20a or E11 as your main weapon, other races can do alright as sharp shooters.

I'm a Human Rifleman, but my starting profession was Novice Artisan. And starting as a Novice Artisan gives your Mind stats a big boost. So I got a big ol' mind pool and a weak health pool. Mind was something like 1000/500/500, and health was like 700/400/400. I actually recently migrated some of the Mind to Health, so now my Mind is 900/450/450, and my Health is 800/450/450.

But yeah, for me to run out of Mind, I have to really spam the specials, and do so with the Spraystick.

I'm a maxed out Mon Cal and I STILL run out of mind.

Maybe I spam specials too much. I still shudder to think what it would be like to be a human.
