Thread: Sometimes I get Combat XP, but no Rifle XP ???
I have noticed this problem several times lately and want to know if anyone else has noticed this.
Situation: I amsoloing PvE.I use the MS2, HS, MS1 + warningshot method on MOBs.
Sometimes, if any of my initial MS1, or HS, or MS2 miss, i try to get in another one before the MOB starts charging me. Often there is not enough time, so I know the MOB is going to reach me before I can get off my warning shots. I dont want to take the 2.5x melee, so I quickly hot-bar to my Pistol and fire off some warning shots.
OK, so far, so good. I yo-yo the MOB with warning shots till he bleeds to death. But SOMETIMES all I get for my trouble is the Combat XP ONLY... no rifle XP, no pistol XP. And I am well within range. I think it has to do with the fact that I went from rifle to pistol. I have found a "work around" but don't like the fact that I lost a lot of XP to this bug.
The work-around is to finish the animal off with a final Headshot (rifle)when he is almost dead. OR, to use my Spraystick for the warning shots so that I am always using a rifle-style weapon. But then I have to hope to survive the melee before I get a warning shot that sticks.
hmm very odd.. i hope this doesnt happen to me as its getting harder and harder to gain good exp.
I have found that my maxing my exp pool before leveling and filling up each tier to the same level before you move up a block helps you maximise the exp gain for time spent (ie you gain the most exp off a snorbal for the max amount of time - as you go up a tier it decreases exp gained).
I almost wishIdbeen one of these powergaming rifle masters that used the baz's when they wereredicously easy to kill. ah well.Then i could sit back and say that its still too easy being a rifleman..
Sanz... thanks for the tip about leveling the trees. I didnt realize that. So you're saying that because I'm a 3 in the left tree, I get less XP when I go back down to fill in a lower tree? Crap! But it sure is hard NOT to go for that Rifle accuracy and aiming!
Maybe the accuracy and aiming make it faster to get the XP when you drop back down to fill in a lower level? So ya think maybe it balances out anyway? Do you have any idea how MUCH it drops the XP as you move up?

yes cos you are in the 3rd level on one tier you will get less exp.. than someone who's max level is 2 in any tier.
ie out of 4 tiers my max is at level 2 in some of em.. if i was to spend some of my saved 700k of rifle exp to take one tier up to level 3 my exp per target would then become lower... ie 1500exp per giant dalyrake would probably go down to 1100exp per kill..
Also, if you want to max exp gained,group with a bot and leave it at base. Tends to give you 15% more exp per kill.

I do group with a bot I leave at home.
Maybe I'll run some numbers on the animals Icommonly huntnow before I hit that 4th level sniping box, then take another reading afterwards.
